In all these contentious conversations and struggle for asserting one’s choice, where does the civic right of marriage as an individual stand. It’s thought provoking that the lgbt community is fighting for this saying it’s a constitutional or civil right to marry and hence there shouldn’t be a block . And they do want to marry for two reasons .... one for the same emotional reasons as heterosexuals feel and two) get the same financial/ legal benefits that’s accorded to a traditional marriage ... where taxes, deceased benefits all come in to play.

The constitution sees marriage more as a civic thingy to help regulate. Like for instance samidha could get benefits by virtue of being married to her late husband .

It’s a huge road ahead . As much as our approach to be more open minded matters that can only be helped if Even constitution is forced to look in to changing its bylaws as to how it can still protect rights for individuals who choose to be partners without being traditionally married .

Gam gam and tiny human

“We don’t need him to tell us what we need to do” Avi was direct

Mrs Rao nodded

She had shared what happened with Mr Singh when they had returned

“I am sorry Ajji” Samidha whispered

“U didn’t cause it”

“I caused everything” Samidha mumbled

“Hey, I know WHO caused it… that little human creature that poops GREEN” Toast woofed

“None of us here are responsible for Sarvansh’s infertility battles, just like he is not responsible for Bik’s death or our coming together or me being dumped at the altar

“Lets move forward” Mrs Rao cringed

“I am sorry any of this makes you uncomfortable” Avi growled

“I came here to be of help, if I have caused the turmoil I am sorry too”

“No you haven’t…I have a lot of unhappy people in my family” he nodded

“Avi do u regret not doing this the right way?” Samidha asked

The baby moaned in the bedroom

“No I don’t…I don’t see any value in marriage” he was firm

He did not notice her shoulders slump

“I think if u had married someone of your choice secretly and THEN had the baby your parents’ anger would be greatly reduced”

“Oh wellI didn’t actually worry about their reaction or opinion when I met you” his eyes clouded with passion

She lowered her gaze

“OK… tell me what the Doc said” Mrs Rao smiled

“Hes a tough lil guy he cried a whimper when they poked him for shots” he laughed

“He kicked the nurse” she giggled

“Umm..excuse me people I kick my vet too, does that count”

“Come here pal” Avi went on his knees

“I am here… finally u even noticed”

They cuddled on the floor

“Umm… so…about that human… do u want to leave him on the park bench?”

“I am sure he will love u when he is 6 months old” Avi cooed to Toast

“I am going to suggest we do it at night, since that dude is awake mostly and not stuck to her boob”

“I am going to teach him throw and u can fetch” Avi chuckled

“I can hold the door open and u can carry him, I bet there is a nice family out there that will love him, green poop and all”

“Samidha we shud get pictures taken professionally while Ajji is here” he raised his head

Samidha was snoozing on the couch as Ajji massaged her feet

“How about you me and the woman, the gam gam and the baby can be left out?” Toast asked

“Sure, I want all the friends here too” Samidha smiled

“Well we cant pay for 50 portraits, we can do a group, sure” he laughed

Ajji looked at him deeply

This was a careful man

He was not financially stable

He watched his expenses

He was unprepared for the baby but yet manned up and took ownership

Her heart melted for Avi, she had no idea why his Dad hated his guts so much

The reckless glint in Avi’s eyes was charming to her at this ripe old age

“I bet that’s what my grand daughter fell for” she smiled as that thought played in her mind

“Ajji you have a better idea?” Avi questioned

“U shud all come to Mysore” Ajji offered shaken out of her reverie

“Sure, whenever she wants to go, we went to Bangalore, that was a bust”

“I will make it worth your while” Ajji nodded

“OK how about lets send the tiny human with gam gam and you and I and the lady go back to being a cozy family again?” Toast asked

“U could go too if u love cargo holds” Avi laughed at the dog

Gam gam Toast’s name for Ajji😁 We ourselves make our life complicated or as simple as we want. Talking openly helps a lot. Hope both Avi and Sam open up about their feelings soon.

Sometimes I wonder under not so ideal circumstances like this which of the two is better?

One to be maintain remote distance and kinda cut them off like sam’s parents or two) to be involved and further damage the already fractious relationship between siblings with the parents scapegoating one sibling against the other. Well we will never know which one of the worst approaches fare better over the other .

As for the couple if Sam is seen to be wanting more stability out of this , if that’s what she considers it as ‘righting the not so correct ‘ then she could probably take the same approach of initiating interest that she took on a rainy day to present and offer herself at his place a year or so ago. But that’s where the catch now is as the stakes at present are far more higher with a child out of wedlock in picture between them. They have a lot riding between them now than there was on that rainy day a year ago . Being outright is easier said than done. Sigh!!!!!
