I see most people here using condescension toward most commercial, the mass cinema where in reality those are the movies that are liked by the majority.

I think that's what BOI was trying to say in its incoherent, verbal diarrhea way.

@bold: they use condescending tone because they are crappy movies. But even in massy movies people can still like/enjoy them and say so.

I don't think MOST is also a term we can use. There's quite a lot of posters that said they LOVE masala movies - me included- provided there's some good stuff to either make you laugh.. or a good mix of rom-com-action.

What MOST would diss is crappy masala.

OT: Lootera is a gem I have enjoyed and has- for me- repeat value.

But as with everything- taste is personal. What one might love, other might dislike. We cannot generalise on behalf of forum members.😊

Apart from that 😛

Apart from that, there is Kaabil which is Blockbuster according to Rakesh Roshan, HNY and PRDP have crossed 200 Crores. And according to Baba Ram Rahim, his movies are bigger Blockbusters than Bahubali.

So neither BOI nor Producers can be trusted, both can be biased, and in a country like India, it's impossible to know the accurate collections of movies by a self proclaimed box office site. Only Producers know and they never share it with people.

So no, box office is not universal.

How is Lootera like an European indie? Yeh kya sab 😆The reason Lootera is considered a cult classic is because it is one.

Lootera released 6 years ago. People still talk about it. That’s why it’s a cult classic. So many films release, become a super hit but are forgotten the next year. Then there are others that release and flop straight away but are remembered on the internet and cherished by many years later. Andaz apna apna was a total flop but so many of us love it. Who cares how a film does at the BO. You like what you like.

exactly, people still love and cherish Anand, but surprise surprise it wasn't a box office grosser.

Film had poignant moments. I recalled sonakshi as a decent actor only in that film. Otherwise it was suchhh a drag. I barely could finish it. Only entertaining films should succeed even if they are made w no masala.. Romance is a hard genre to pull this off. Thrillers, horror and comedy are easier in that way.
