Lootera was too slow paced..from dialogues to everything..and too poetic.. some scenes were not explained properly in dialogues. I didn't understand most of the things the first time I watched it. It took me some time to realise Varun was actually a thief. Some more dialogues would have helped it to connect to the audience.

Lootera didn’t get the box office success, but online it’s has gotten the status of quite a cult movie. Sometimes it takes a while for the audience to appreciate a good movie not every flop is a bad movie. It depends upon the release timing, trailer and the buzz for business but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the movie’s not doing great business are bad. Lootera had great reviews from all the critics. Similarly not a lot of blockbusters are good movies neither do they achieve cult status despite doing big numbers. People forget about them after sometime. Another good comparison to Lootera would be andaaz apna apna which was a flop but is now regarded a cult favourite classic. I personally love Lootera it’s my go to romantic movie, the feels in it are too damn high especially the last scene gets me every time.

Every flop, yawn-worthy , boring movie is put on pedestal here ...Lootera was all that and more . I couldn't even finish it and couldn't understand what ranveer was even mumbling.

I like The Last Leaf by O. Henry, story is great and this is why I couldn't make myself watch Lootera. Bollywood ruined The Great Expectation, I don't expect them to do justice to a good story.

Lootera is put on pedestal because the idea behind it is good

don't know abt pedestal, the last leaf is a boring story indeed. somehow never felt drawn to it unlike other classics. somehow the pain doesn't seep into the soul that deep. however, I do have a strong liking for characters who talks less n conveys max through their silence with the eyes doing the needful instead of heavy dialogues n gestures. while watching it, I liked rs as the withdrawn man yet so observing. the thug who knows must not get entangled yet fails to keep his heart safe. the man who must care only for his shadow yet starts taking care for an ailing woman. since acting is abt the act n not abt the personality in person, I feel rs did a fantabulous job, so much in control, so should be given due credit. (all the more praiseworthy coz rs the person has the hyperactive personality n here he was nothing like he is in real, that speaks volumes of his calibre as an actor).

Because you are considered intellectual if you like the film in forum

because it's a flop

because it puts you to sleep

Because the forum currently has more active fans of Ranveer

With all due respect, AAA became a cult classic in spite of theatrically flopping due to being a massive hit on TV and video cassettes circuit, which are tangible to show its afterthought popularity to this date. Lootera didn’t become a theatrical hit, taking ormax WOM tracker with a pinch of salt shows shitty general WOM and has terrible tv ratings. But we are gonna force the cult classic facade coz of a few online critiques and bloggers?!

And with all due respect to you, TV is hardly the barometer to judge a film's popularity these days. And I did not know video cassettes still existed. TV is a dying medium. I don't even know anyone that watches it. Everyone just streams things off of various paid subscription sites. Plus, how do you assess Lootera's popularity with the audience that lives outside India? We don't have Indian cable, I have never had it, anyway. In my opinion, if a film holds good word of mouth year after year despite flopping at the box office, that is a cult hit. Also, Lootera received 4 to 5 stars from reviewers across the board when it released. I have never seen such unanimously positive rating before. Feel free to correct me.

SRK's Kabhi ha kabhi na did not do well either but so many of us still love it and remember it. Yes, even the non-SRK fans like me.

Barking up the wrong tree. I liked Fan. So, that is good to know. But I wasn't that active on here at the time. So don't remember the reviews.
