Because a lot of people loved it. I loved it when I watched it in an empty theater for the first time and later numerous times on YouTube..

It was a superbly directed, well shot movie. The cast was fantastic and above all the once in life time music made it all memorable and I will continue to put this movie on pedestal regardless how others think about it.. Because at the end of the day you can't control other people's liking

Because people love the film and still talk about it today, yes it didn't gain alot at the box office and it's not everyone's kind of movie, but many that did watch it think it's a beautiful film, the reviews were amazing, it got 4-5 stars stars from nearly every critic

Then there are others that release and flop straight away but are remembered on the internet and cherished by many years later. Andaz apna apna was a total flop but so many of us love it. Who cares how a film does at the BO. You like what you like.

With all due respect, AAA became a cult classic in spite of theatrically flopping due to being a massive hit on TV and video cassettes circuit, which are tangible to show its afterthought popularity to this date. Lootera didn’t become a theatrical hit, taking ormax WOM tracker with a pinch of salt shows shitty general WOM and has terrible tv ratings. But we are gonna force the cult classic facade coz of a few online critiques and bloggers?!

exactly, people still love and cherish Anand, but surprise surprise it wasn't a box office grosser.

Anand was a super hit and 3rd biggest grosser in 1971. I am not sure where you got your info from brother.

I think it was BOI only who once in their article wrote it was a semi hit/average, I think it was when discussing some new movie related to illness. Although after you said it, checked other websites some say it was super hit, some say average and some say semi hit. So maybe Anand wasn't a apt example.

Although I get your point about Lootera not really doing well in television or online too, but I think it has found a cult following. A cult classic means a movie having a strong following with a sizebale group of people. Obviously I also cringe when people are like ''Oh shit movies like XYZ become hit, while great pieces like Lootera, October and so on become flop'', blaming audience and sheez.

Personally, I don't think Lootera is a good film. But jeez, only the biggest idiot would take a single number from Ormax seriously.

It was a boring bakwas and would've flopped even today. The other content movies has right amount of entertainment unless the success movie criteria for lootera fans is 30 crores🤣.

One of most boring movies i ever watched in theatre. And i have been to himachal and kashmir. Dalhousie is like 4 hours drive from my home .. I have seen beautiful locations like this several times. I was there to watch gud movie not beauty of nature

It is a classic on india forums only bcoz one fangroup runs this forum. Outside if, it is not even known
