Rehna Hai tere dil mein in 2001 which was also a remake of a tamil movie and when it was made in hindi as debut of R madhavan and Diya Mirza in bollywood, it created quite an impact. The fight sequences, College Rivalry of R madhavan and Saif Ali Khan was the highlighting point. The songs were quite the highlight. Dil na kisi se lagaana and zara zara were chartbusters
One of the classics remain- tujhe yaad na meri aai from Kuch kuch hota hai and tadap tadap ke from hum dil de chuke sanam. Some songs from rockstar were quite popular that potrayed the angst of that character for his love. Dhadkan songs were all focussed on this unrequited love and was big hit during those times.
Coming to this last year hit private album " Iss mein tera ghata mera kuch nahi jaata" The youtube hits are very good and so much that neha kakkar out of her broken love with himanshu kohli created her own version clinging to a red wall.
Asshiqui 2 had fabulous tracks. in 2016 was Channa Mereya, the most popular heartbreak song. This bekhayali song from kabir singh is playing everywhere .
I feel whether private albums or films this genre is the one where bollywood never fails. You can find many heart broken romeos while going through the comments on those youtube videos too 😛
