But than ditches the plan when the music starts playing. It was a comic situation while also showing how far had Kabir grown into lust, just like that ice cubes stuffing in underwear scene. I like how people aren't seeing the whole context of any scene in this movie, taking partial view of every situation according to their own beliefs.

that scene is no where comedy how much ever u try to paint it that way...might have started off casually but when the gal started refusing and when he took out the knife..did u see the look on the gal's face??...she was hell scared ...this is not how humour is shown...

It seems we are looking at it differently, you're looking at a big picture, I'm looking at the small details. To me, those small details are telling as they show certain behaviors that are not acceptable in any circumstance, and the larger picture you are describing makes them seem minuscule in comparison, like a little speck of dust, when to me, they are not. In a love story, you either respect your loved one, or atleast have enough respect to not cross certain boundaries, or that "love" is a farce. And I understand Kabir was an arsehole to everyone, but to normalize his actions and sweep them under the rug in the name of "love" and just being a plain "arsehole" sounds dangerous to me.

This all sounds very preachy, I totally get it. But here's the thing, when you take a male character and make him do all kinds of terrible things, even to his supposed lover, and then let him off with some kind of redemption, you are normalizing the behavior. You're saying this is OKAY! Today one movie does it, tomorrow another, sooner or later, this sort of behavior becomes a normal part of our culture. Movies seep into the consciousness of people, and also vice versa, peoples' deeper consciousness also affect what kind of movies they watch. As I said before, people coming in droves to watch this film reflect the misogynist collective conscious that Indian society holds and I'm not even saying this in an accusatory manner. It is the truth. Because we are not throwing brickbats at such "hero," at such "romantic" hero, we are celebrating him. Thus, somewhere in our minds, we think this behavior is okay, and that our females should be meek and our heroes should display toxic masculinity. It is that possible normalization of such behavior that disturbs me.

Yes it all depends on how we view the movie. You see this movie as promoting and romanticism of toxic masculinity, I see it as a movie where lead character is an asshole who just happens to be good looking and dominant dude who attracts stupid women, and luckily for him he found a girl who was equally crazy for him.

it started and ended casually, and that look shown by the girl was more about her boyfriend fiance as she directly looks at the door after Kabir pulls out the knife after giving that look, and that scene leading to the ice cube scene was a vehicle to show the tharkipaan of Kabir, and the treatment of that from start till end was in comic manner. I am not trying to show it as something else, I am showing it as it was.

I don’t mean to say this scene is ok or acceptable in anyway but hear me out...

Isn’t that what black comedies are about? Humour generated from the most pathetic disgusting situation?

Again, see andhadhun....a man gets killed and stuffed into a suitcase ...this is crime patrol level horrific but it plays out as a funny scene in the movie...incl the act of his fingers being snapped out of their sockets..

Badlapur shows Varun Dhawan trying to irk Radhika aptes husband by pretending with her that he’s molesting here..this plays out for laughs too...

Common thing in all three is they r adult films...

Uncommon thing : the first two got reviewed differently with context in mind...

there is no comparison of how this scene was shown and the scenes u r talking about...in reality many horrific things happen and it can be shown in a dark humour way...here he is shown as heroic even in that scene..I dont get it how u can overlook the tone of this scene and sliding it by saying dark comedy which it remotely isnt.

I like how some people read stuff and intercept it as per their convenience, no where I am saying Kabir is a good man, nor I said Preeti is an ideal woman, as I said she was indeed stupid person to love a jerk. And she isn't strong because she is smitten, it is not about her being strong, it is about her being willingly in the relationship, and persisting with it even after it was all ended.

Anyways, keep mocking.

Really ? All I saw was audience laughing at all three scenes ...all three involve the “hero” of the film...the laughing here is taken as a glorification of the character? ....all three show criminal and horrific things in reality....so are the audience twisted, perverted, disgusting or just plain responsive to the audacity of what’s going on screen?
