I saw few episodes and the show was so disturbing..

Not only have they shown a dystopian India as a Dirty Slum with no water and acid rains, but this show is blatantly mocking our Hindu culture and especially Hindu groups.

Its about India in 2049 AD and how its run by a totalitarian govt (clearly insulting Hindus here) . This govt believes in Purity and in the name of that, tortures people...

It was extremely horrible ..

I could not watch it more than 3 episodes.

Netflix takes great joy and always approves Indian Web series which shows India in a poor light.

Agreed its based on a book, but this show takes it to another level

Did you people watch this.

Nope and not planning to either. Literally a copy of the hand-maiden's tale. And they seriously need to stop peddling this Hindu phobic bullshit. As if we have been going around forcefully converting people for thousands of years. We don't give a shit about people having different religions as long as they stay in their lane and trying to make us give us give a f*** in some dystopian bullshit is stupid AF.

I'm on episode 3 loving it so far. Such a unique concept albeit it's a little slow.

Ye sab religionphobic shows and news article polarise ppl more. The libtards have taken over the world. They just dont get the fact that they are Also contributing to polarisation along with the politicians. If only people kept aside religion caste race etc and actually address the actual issue in hand. Sigh. Kuch hua to sabse pehle uska naam kyu dekhte he ye log. This phobia has all started with stupid bollywood.

Acc to such showbiz ppl

On odd days: there are good people and bad ppl. Religion doesnt matter.

On even days: this religion is bad. That religion is bad. This one good. This one moderate blah blah.

Weird n borderline disturbing but I actually liked the series and ended up binge watching. Perhaps it’s due to Mira Nair’s direction. She makes sensitive scenes watchable.Huma is pretty good aswell.

Many of the things shown in the show have already happened and are still happening in real life

  1. wealth segregation
  2. women getting married to a dog
  3. women rolling on leftover food
  4. trafficking ring to reform young tribal girls
  5. mountains of garbage
  6. women given pills to keep them working through period pain
  7. professors getting publicly lynched
  8. cartoons gloryfying the leader

so it really isn't that shocking and I won't be surprised if things get worse in the next couple of decades.

Leila is a really interesting show and just like the Handmaiden Tale, it shows us something that could turn into reality.
