Deepika was much much better in Tamasha imo.

Yeah I also haven't been able to complete it. Still have one more sitting but I'm dreading it. I guess Shoojit Sircar was just ambitious (as well as Juhi Chaturvedi) and they couldn't do justice to the narrative. I'll have to complete the film to make a concrete judgement.

I guess this iconic character just wasn't able to grow on me.

Yeah, this isn't her fav performance for me. I loved her in Finding Fanny, she suited it and also performed her best which is sadly underrated or ignored. This is the other film apart from Cocktail, YJHD where iam impressed by her acting.

Even i feel she isn't good in Chennai Express and is overrated there.

Rani.

Kangana.

They are used to such tough demeanour in real life so they naturally fit Piku.

Overrated film. Overrated performance. I found Amitabh and Irrfan endearing while Deepika just one tone through out. I found her character highly irritating in fact. I think anybody cud hv played her role.

Adding to the above. I think Deepika was good in Chennai Express, Ram Leela, Cocktail and Tamasha.

The magic of Deepika in and as Piku was that it was so far out of her comfort zone. Yes Konkona would've fit the role like a glove. But Deepika... it takes time for the viewer to accept her portrayal. But she gets it, she nails it. That's what the hype was all about. Thing is, if you hate Deepika, you won't appreciate the performance and will say things like "Sonam would be better" - it's quite sad really.

Same. Amitabh was great but I see Rishi Kapoor nailing it. You?

Absolutely. Unpopular opinion but I feel AB sr overacted as Bhaskar and he didn't get the accent right either. I m generally non fussy about accent but given Amitabh's history with Bengal (he resided in kolkata too) and his extraordinary calibre as actor I m bit surprised how his accent got wrong 🤔
