Vivek Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files started on a slower note but maintained an excellent trend to finally emerge as a Super Hit, by surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy and Kartik Aaryan’s Luka Chuppi.

The film when opened on April 12, 2019 needed an extraordinary word of mouth to sail through and that’s what it seems to have got.

The Tashkent Files has done a business of 15.35 crores nett by the end of the 5th weekend which is excellent considering its budget which is just 4 crores including P and A.

The film had the first week of a mere 3.50 crores nett. The collections grew in the second week and the film earned 4.22 crores nett. In the third week, the collections remained unaffected despite the release of Avengers: Endgameas it earned another 3.77 crores nett. The 4th week was also strong as it contributed 2.86 crores nett. Now in the 5th weekend, the film has added another 1 crore to its total number.

Now, this is yet another case study for Bollywood filmmakers who put budget ahead of content. While both of the factors are important for the success of the film, a balance is the most important thing. The Tashkent Files with a small budget has done what a lot of big films don’t get to do. The film has generated great profits for the producers. What more does the Bollywood industry needs?

^ur probably ignorant about the movie's business LOL : it's worth celebrating...made on a budget of 2.55 cr released in 250 screens only managed to stay a month despite all big released and 15 crores makes it a definite superhit at the box office.

Exactly....!!! it should have got a blockbuster tag alongside uri……

it is in theatres for over a month....It released alongside kalank and kjo made sure no paid reviewers reviewed it, rather sing praises for kalank…...even now agnihotri is saying that efforts are being made to take the film off screens inspite of 90% occupancy to make way for soty 2

This Kjo blaming is getting ridiculous😆. The reason why critics don't review Vivek Agnihotri's movies is because of his political standing, and almost all of them being left leaning liberals, whom he calls UUrban Naxalites. Hence his movie Buddha in Traffic also got the same treatment, why always blame Kjo??😆

yes Vivek himself admitted that the film had ruffled the feathers of Congress party and hence they made sure the film gets poor reviews.

honestly i don't care this party or that party...they all have same agenda and are corrupt in either this or that way...so take this film as a film and you will not complain.

The good thing that agnihotri did that he casted great actors in this one - Shweta Prasad should get nominated for all awards this year, mithun and naseer both did great, others were splendid and the film's script is elevated by their performances to a major extent.

technically, the film is poorly made u can see the production design 80% of the film is shot inside a room. and many shots are taken with shaky hand held camera but despite all this the film came at the right time where ppl r lapping up movies on political and nationalistic issues - Accidental Prime M, URi, Kesari, Manikarnika they all did well and it was expected for Tashkent Files to follow the same route.

the film was poorly promoted and marketed and despite all the problems, hurdles it became such a success and it's no easy feat !

Note : I don't like Vivek Agnihotri at all...i don't watch any of his movies and offscreen too, he creeps me out but this film should be watched atleast once for the great performances.
