Shah Rukh Khan on Zero disaster: Maybe I made the wrong film

Shah Rukh Khan opened up on failure of his previous film Zero. The Anand L Rai directorial also starred Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.

Shah Rukh Khan's Zero bombed at the box office.

Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up on the failure of his previous Zero. The actor is currently in China to attend the 9th Beijing International Film Festival.

Talking to media there, the actor opened up on Zero's failure. He said, "Unfortunately Zero itself wasn't received too well back home in India, maybe I made the wrong film, maybe I did not do the right storytelling so I am a little wary how it will be received here and I hope people here will like it."

Shah Rukh, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer Zero will close the Beijing International Film Festival this year.

In an earlier interview, Anand L Rai, director of Zero, talked about the film's failure. He said, "I won't say I am disappointed. I will need to understand (what went wrong). This is the story I wanted to say and I made it. After making Ranjhaanaa and Tanu Weds Manu and the second one, this film (Zero) was due for me to make. I took a certain flight and I have not landed on it properly."

Talking to media in China, Shah rukh also opened up on his future projects. He said, "I haven't decided what I will do next. I thought I will take a few months off and try and work on what I want to do because it's very important for me to be most excited about it. I work 16 hours a day, so if it doesn't excite you in the morning, you should not wake up."

He added, "At my stage, when I have worked in over 80 films, have done some satisfactory roles and have made a career out of what I do, I should be like I don't want to get up and go if it's not going to be an absolutely, stunning, scintillating and exciting day as an actor. So, right now I don't have anything that's stunning, scintillating and exciting, If I will have it, I will start working on it."

Wow! Zero's failure has hit SRK really hard!

It was good while it lasted.

He should just stick to production now and let the newbies take over now. At least he can do that. There are others who can't do that either.

Wow. I think he has finally realized that he has lost the plot for a while now. This is good. One cant change anything if one is in denial.

And Shah is not done and dusted. Nope. What he needs to do is create a writer's team for Red Chillis Ent. Or delve into regional movies and pick out writers and directors who have a resounding voice and care more about writing than the Bolly game. Its the age of the Good Script and he needs good writers who can write authentic and original roles for him adhering to the age bracket of 40+ protagonists. There is so many stories he can tell as a middle aged man. And so many good writers are dying at the brink of ruthless and chanceless Bollywood only for their one shot.

Shah has the money and resources to cultivate good scripts but only if he can think long term and not care about BO numbers. There's also so many book adaptations he can do. I can recommend thousands of stories perfect to be adapted for him. Sigh. He's wasting his acting,his screen presence and just him in general year after year and I hate that.
