So, I read the first chapter of the HP series...
Is it weird that I find Vernon Dursley to be a loving and caring husband?
^No, you are not exceptional here.
I know he was bully, a horrible father when it came to disciplining his son, he was loud and obnoxious but he had one redeeming quality. He loved his wife.
^It's very much possible for a person to be loving and supporting for one and horrible for another. Mr. Dursely was one such personality.
He loved her enough to accept something as abnormal as magical relatives. Especially when he, himself hated anything out of ordinary and did not have much of an imagination. He accepted her and never blamed her for coming from an abnormal family.
^It's a crazy imagination to even compare Mr. Dursely with our original Mr. Sehgal. But somewhere this quality of the duo very much matched.
In the first chapter itself, JK Rowling has made it clear that Vernon Dursley cared for his wife.
^I STAMP
What did Petunia go through when she read Dumbledore's letter?
^Shock, scare, confusion, irritation, responsibility.
She hated her sister with passion. Let us forget that we later found out that she loved her sister and the sisters had not always shared a bad relationship. In this chapter, she finds out that her sister is dead and that her son is now her responsibility. It is one thing to hate a person when he/she is alive but the news fo their death will stun you.
^Definitely. Shock and longing will over power a person when even a one-time-meet-man will announced to be dead out of sudden. Here the matter is not just about any random person but her sister so it's very much natural to be stun at first place.
But its depth and time period vary person by person.
Do you think it is possible that Petunia, in the privacy of her room, might have broken down and grieved her sister's death? JK Rowling has not described that scene. She has just mentioned that Petunia screamed but then nothing. So what do you think?
^No, I don't think so. According to my opinion, in just few days everything was back to normal for her and the only addition was Harry, not more than an unwanted load.
ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
^A NAME WHICH LOVED 😭
The first impression that we get of him is that of a naughty kid. McGonagall wanted to talk about something important but he was purposely being annoying. He always spoke in cryptic words. Dumbledore will forever remain a mystery. No one will be able to fully understand the character.
^I strongly agree. He was, is, and will forever be an unpuzzled mystery.
He held all the answers, but he divulged only that information that was necessary at that time. ^A reason of him being favourite for majority of potterheads. Many people claimed to be close to him, but that was an illusion. ^🤪 The truth was no one knew the real Dumbledore. Even Harry was deceived into believing that he knew Dumbledore. Dumbledore had too many facets for anyone to know him completely. ^❤️
