This is not a post meant to bash her. I am just so genuinely confused as to why I don't like here, when almost everyone else in the world does.
Among her more acclaimed movies, i have watched Dear Zindagi, Highway and Raazi. In Highway, she was good I can't deny that. But all her emotions, her breakdowns did not make me forget that it was an act, and as I saw the appropriate expressions flicker accross her face, I was not convinced. In Dear Zindagi, her acting was good till her breakdown scene in the party. I found it to be over the top and a bit cringey. In Raazi more or less she was good, especially SPOILER when she ran over the servant with the truck. But her breakdown in the end, was again too much and left distaste rather than sadness in me.
She is better than many of her contemporaries such as Shraddha, Jackie, Pari, Kangana etc. But some other actresses like Sonakshi (Lootera and Itttefaq) and Deepika (YJHD and Piku) are just as good as her. Yesteryear actresses such as Rani Preity Kajol etc are leagues ahead of her. So why is she praised as the best thing that happened to humanity since sliced bread? Not that they matter, but in terms of her looks, I find her pretty. But she is the average sort of pretty, the kind you can see around you. Nothinh ethereal like Sona (her exquisite features) Deepika or Shraddha. I did not find her convincing in Kalank, because she simply did not fit the part, but that is okay, cos I don't think Sona could have pulled off an Ananya like Alia did. So why is KJo so intent on shoving her down our throats in every role possible, when it is apparent she does not fit some of them (no actress can do all sorts of roles I think).
Can someone explain this? Responses I see on the forum and even among some of my friends are really baffling me.
