this topic has spoilers (for those that have not watched it yet)

Is Safeena over-rated as a character? edit: and was Alia's performance overrated? (as ThugLeader said below)

Though it was nice to see an independent Muslim girl in the movie this character has major flaws to the extent that I could not connect to the character.

This character sent the wrong message to the audience about violence when a girl texts her boyfriend and hitting sky with a bottle as she suspected Murad's affair with her. This is not ok she should have anger management done at least if not gone to jail. It really was not funny or daring. If she is like this now potentially how will she react if Murad has die-hard female fans that go crazy over him and are extra clingy in front of her?

Also she easily forgave Murad for having an affair and their conversation was quite shallow

What is your view?

I agree with you. If I had a boyfriend like that I'd deem him a psycho and ask for a restraining order.

She actually hit a few girls.. and yes.. there's no guarantee she won;t do the same with the female fans.. if 'Murad' was becoming successful.

Anger management is not enough.. she needed some treatment.. And her dad a doctor and somehow overlooking all those injured girls and believing her..wow!

But somehow cause she makes cute faces and has some funny one liners .. everyone is ready to laugh it off.

overrated character?
overrated performance suna tha, abhi characters bhi overrated hone lage😆.
Yes Safeena sucked, Alia sucked.
Wish the role was played great actress like Kriti/ Parineeti/ Sara, it would have been better.

character is also overrated this time, people are praising Safeena on twitter/instagram for no reason

I agree I think Sara or Pari would have aced it

no just I think their acting would be better

Safeena was a character with shock effect, obviously people will like her, doesn't mean everybody wants Safeena.
Even in the movie, only Murad was the one who got her, and not anyone else.
Plus let's not forget had Murad not cheated her, wouldn't have ever happened anything.
first time with Albina, despite that girl sending flirting messages, he responded.
Second time, dude took it to next level with Sky.
So he is as much in fault as Safeena.
Safeena is a massy character and one of the few things in the movie alongside the rapping part which pulled in the mass audience, otherwise movie wouldn't have done that good.
So Safeena isn't overrated, because few people didn't liked her.
Movie never tried to show that her behavior was okay as nobody in the movie supported her for her actions.
People liked it because it was providing some action and massy entertainment in a seemingly serious movie.
Also it is easy to say other actress would have done it better, who knows they might have been more cringe with OTT acting.

Yes, safeena did have a shock effect but only to an extent as bottle scene can be seen in a video song from youtube.

In western countries snogging people when drunk is not really a big deal Sky is a foreigner (I am not saying that it is morally correct). Also it wasn't clear if they only snogged or made out too as Murad said something about them hooking up. At the time she did this Murad did not even say he snogged Sky it was purely Safeena's intuition. Safeena was an in my face character and not appealing

If movie never showed her behaviour is ok why wasn't she reformed, sorry is not enough for breaking a bottle on someone's head

It was not entertainment, violence is never funny.

How do you know only a few people did not like Safeena. Alia herself says do not dupko someone (not sure how this slan term is spelt)

In terms of acting at least, Parineeti would cry better
