Honestly! I hate having to watch children on TV shows anyway as their characters are usually poorly written, they are often bad actors with unintelligible dialogue delivery (not their fault - they're literal children!) or they serve no purpose beyond the 'aww' factor, which I usually don't feel.

But all of this is much, much worse when the children are used to foreshadow plot lines, as if we're too stupid as an audience to understand the significance otherwise. I know I'm in the minority for not finding kids on TV cute. But for me, it's bad enough to have to watch their badly written characters for too long; giving them contrived dialogues and trying to get them to do the heavy lifting in setting up the premise makes it almost unwatchable.

I totally agree with you. Rarely do I find kids on TV that behave like real kids. There are shows were kids play in the background but do to spout adult dialogues - that's actually real life. I remember in my childhood, in gatherings, all the cousins would play like crazy and not pay any attention to what the adults were talking about. I don't know why they need to give kids dialogues because even in real life, kids aged five years say gibberish that mostly don't make sense.

Why can't we have a show where kids behave like kids? When they grow up, they can say those dialogues all they want but what is the need of making kids say/do such things? If you want to show those things, just have them grow up and make them do the same thing 🥱
