First Kunal is not the father of Mauli's child. At present he is just the SPERM DONOR and someone who is BIOLOGICALLY linked to the child. Mauli on the other hand is the mother because she is carrying the child in her womb. A woman becomes a mother from the moment she conceives a fetus/baby; but a man becomes a father only when the child is born and he fulfills his responsibility and not because he contributes his sperm.

Also it is Mauli's decision whether she needs Kunal's money or Kunal to take up the baby's equal responsibility. Not Kunal's .
