^ Now if Salim was sent to war at 8-9 years of age, then what they are showing in the show is more creative liberty: the whole misbehaviour with Abu Fazal and drinking.

As for Ruquiya begum, I remember reading it somewhere that she loved Salim a lot and even here in the forum several people have mentioned that. This means that it was probably at least a somewhat well-known point. Then what are the CVs getting at by showing her to be so conniving and hating Salim so much? Like I get that serials need a villain, but they could easily have shown some outside force the true villain with people who work for him in the mahal.

The Salim drinking and Akbar sending him as punishment to war field is not historical data, its imagination

Its copied from mughal e azam film

Pls read jehangirnama, jehangir aka salim says he tasted wine first time in life when he was 18-19 years and hafim when he was unwell in 30s and had to reduce drinking.

Anarkali was not Salims childhood friend

Nur Jahan was known to Salim in childhood as her father worked in Akbars durbar

@ Bold: Yep I remember them showing that in Mughal-e-Azam as well. But I feel like I've read it somewhere as well. Maybe it was just a fiction piece that I read.

@ Blue: I will! Thanks for the recommendation!

@ Red: Yes I knew about Anarkali not being Salim's childhood friend, but not about Noor Jehan. I've read it in several places that Anarkali and Salim actually met when Salim came back after his war training. By then Anarkali was a kanees in the mahal, but she was a good dancer and poet and so was made into a rakassa. That is another reason why Akbar was so against her because rakassas are not supposed to get married and especially not to a shehzada.
