My lessons from making an anti Adiya post

Little background before I dive into the gyaan. So, I was a silent reader when it came to forum posts and only concentrated on my story Toxic. It was the first time I was attempting a thriller with complex manipulative characters having deep traumatic histories and it demanded all my attention. But, during the whole marriage track, I saw numerous posts bashing Aditya for being obsessive and stalkerish. My boyfriend (and no it's not Harshad Chopda *sniffs*) did something very similar to Aditya and I was like, what the heck, I need to speak up for Mr. Sarcastic Pilot. It was now or never and the situation called to the Jhansi ki Rani side inside me. So, I wrote a post in Adi's defense. Yes, I finally did it.

I was really scared before publishing and had almost deleted it from my Google Drive. I was going against the general tide sweeping up the forum and I have seen how brutal forum waasi's can be. But, surprisingly I found many supporters and that encouraged me. One of my Toxic readers wrote to me saying that she would love to read my opinion on the show more often. I was like - yes you go girl. This is a free world. The right of speech is a fundamental right. BP is a mature show with mature audience.

How wrong I was. But, hey you live and learn.

Anyways, it was a lazy Saturday afternoon and I had nothing better to do, so I made a post about Adiya chemistry lacking intensity. I didn't like the kiss and I said it. Fuelled by 'India is a free country' nonsense, I clicked on the little Post button. And BAM ! The post went viral.

People commented essays about Zoya and Aditya's characters. How they feel, what they feel, their trials and tribulations, their emotional fragility. You name it, people analyzed it. I was legit amazed. RESPECT !

And I am a writer. It's my job to analyze emotions (I don't get paid for it but that's a whole new discussion) but forum waasi's were so much better at psychoanalyzing the protagonists. My whole writer tiara came crumbling down and let me tell you this - I was not happy. Downing a mimosa with my pizza (didn't feel like cooking, it was Saturday guys !) calmed my frazzled nerves and I started rationalizing. I realized that I didn't even analyze the stories this much during my English board exams. What if I had ? Maybe I would have scored a perfect 100, who knows. *Wonders* (On a side note - I got 94, which I would like to think was not that bad)

Anyways coming to the main point.

Lessons learnt :

Lesson No. 1 : Easiest way to make a post viral - mention that you didn't like Adiya. You don't need to bash them, just state in a very simple, funny way that you find the chemistry lacking. That's it guys. That's all you need to do.

I know it because the discussion on my post went 12 pages long. On a side note Toxic which demands my blood and sweat averages at 3 pages of comments per update. *Goes to the bathroom to cry. Yeh duniya kitni zaalim hai*

In case anyone missed the infamous post. Here's the link 😆

https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/bepannaah/5031918/i-didnt-like-the-adiya-near-kiss

Lesson No. 2 : People will make counter posts to negate your views. You will be amazed to see the level of devotion forum waasi's have for this couple. Like legit amazed. Knock you on your ass amazed. Be prepared. I was not.

Lesson No. 3 : Hope's not dead yet. There are people who will respect your opinion and will state theirs in a non-argumentative way. Fair and square. You will see some hope in the dark cloud of despair but don't get your it too high. It's just an illusion. The bashing will far outnumber the rationalism.

Lesson No. 4 : Your readers will stand by you. They might not agree with you but they will not unnecessarily fight with you. Thank you guys, I love you all. *Sniffs*

Lesson No. 5 : People will get creative and use your story title to indirectly bash your post. Now that's just lame. But, you'll learn to appreciate the creative lameness. You basically just learn to appreciate everything left, right and center. Appreciation thy name.

Lesson No. 6 : You'll enjoy the whole process and bash yourself for not stating your opinions often. Why should supporters have all the fun ! 😉

Hi Harsha. Just want to say that after all the rona dhona of the past week, the episode on Friday was a welcome relief and i even posted saying that finally our patience as viewers had paid off in the most beautiful way, until I read your post and realized that subconsciously while watching the proposal, I had the exact same thoughts as you.

It's really brave of you to write this post, coz I wouldn't have done so.

So, you go girl - it is a free country and keep posting your thoughts often so you're not bashing yourself for not doing so because people like me get carried away and sometimes need another voice to bring us back to what we felt about something in the first place.

Cheers...

Haha this was a fresh read!

There have been sooo many times I got bashed for stating unpopular opinions (ex. when I brought up the fact that interreligious couples in india don't have it as easy as AdiYa, when I said Waseem was actually a psychopath & control freak, when I thought Aditya was in the wrong though he still remained the love of my life 😆 ) but one thing I've learned from this forum is that in reality a good chunk of us are open to new ideas (keyword: a chunk 😆 ) I love reading posts I disagree with a little better than ones I agree with because I get to understand another perspective. I love JenShad with all my heart but I will be the first to admit Aditya and Zoya are very flawed characters, something ITV isn't used to. So when we point out those flaws it's like HOOOMYGOSH an earthquake for some 😆 .

Anyways continue posting and analyzing! It's what keeps the forum alive and healthy 😃
We all are entitled to our own opinion and sometimes it surprises me to see how many of us share an unpopular opinion 👏

Darn!

Had no idea people may have got offended this much... I personally didn't think you spoke anything absurd. It was an honest opinion- hardly bashing.

I gave an open opinion, to wait for their chemistry to better as their relationship has only just begun.

We as viewers don't realise simple camera angles can have a huge impact on a scene.

I mean lets look at the scene when Zoya's dupatta got trapped on her nikkah day as Adi was bringing her down, now that was shot beautifully. They were close, they were almost in an embrace postition- the proposal one didn't. But they were 2 different scenarios- first one being they are about to separate so more emotional and the proposal one being- they are finally one... so more nervous yet comfortable.

Anyway point is, chemistry may have lacked, there may have been no oomph but in general their pairing rocks!

I'm just excited of whats to come!

Negative posts attract more attention. I guess dtz how human nature works.
Few years down d line, Jenshad will be somewhere else n thr wud be no Adiya, so enjoy till it lasts, no point over analysing things. Nobody changes their pov even if others write essays. Some sensible ppl may just try to look at things differently, but thatz abt it. So baba inna mat socho.

Hey that post was required ..
This man aditya almost pleaded for his love, lost his self respect, became a child once again. Yes he did get what he wanted. Man ..that was tiring.

After the pent emotions from both sides and finally when they locked in their hands together i was like Yeah finally.!!

Instead of thst cfl bulbs proposal, if they wanted to add in drama, cvs could have let adiya have their tea. As usual wallet is in car, when the truck comes to hit the car instead of Vatsaal Sheth, Zoya Siddiqui was a better candidate to save Aditya hooda. Not a kiss but a passionate hug and to add in some zing, she can always cup his face in her hands and say i love u or some extra dialogues

Adi could.have gone down on one knee to propose

Neverthless something was lacking and glad that i am not the only one who is thinking on the same lines.

Hi Harsha. Like you I've mostly been a silent reader of this forum. And well I just wanted to say that I'm glad you plucked up the courage and made that kiss post yesterday. I found nothing wrong with your post. You just put forth your opinion in a very respectable manner. There was no bashing and no negativity in your post. And many people even participated in a healthy discussion with you.

Many times fans become so devoted to a TV show or an onscreen couple that they get offended for every small thing said against the show or the couple. They forget to respect freedom of speech. And I think it's really pathetic that mocking posts are made to counter posts that provide constructive criticism. On such a large platform, it's very likely that everyone will have different opinions. Not everyone can just praise and say positive things 24/7.

Anyways, I'm sorry that there are some posts mocking you but don't be disheartened. I personally like reading different views on everything so I enjoyed your post. I hope you continue to write and share with us :)

Hahaha!😃😃
I enjoyed reading this post of yours very much. 😆 So well articulated!
I also had a chance to read your other post and as soon as i read it, i knew that IT was going to evoke a war!😆😆 I thought to comment on it, and my comment would have been in the favor of the episode, but then I got really busy elsewhere. Now after an entire day, when I come back to the forum, I see a super hilarious "reactionary to the reactions on the earlier post" post! 😆
I just want to say that you are entitled to have an opinion of your own and although I may not agree with you, still I feel that your earlier post was in good taste and written nicely, without disrespting anyone. But the content of course was "hat ke"...hence all the negative comments So its okay bro...these things happen! 😆😆
Few days ago, I made a post saying that I am finding Zoya bland in front of Aditya... and it was the first time that a random post of mine got so many reads and comments! So i have sort of experienced this thing too! 😆😆
P.S. I think i have missed your ff... 😕 I gotta check it out!
Take care... ❤️

cfl bulbs proposal ... that's a good one. 🤣

How I wish we would have seen the whole scene like you described it. Makes more sense to me.
