Saw Patakha today and I was wondering if BW films should be careful with what they show and what not in trailers, even if they purposefully give away plot points? Should BW films have better trailers?
Despite Patakha being a really nice film and extremely enjoyable,I realized that the first half of the film is EXACTLY the trailer of the film. 😕 So by the time they come to the interval point which is the last scene of the trailer, you don't find anything new or shocking about it and the story only picks up in the second half.

Which BW trailer in the recent past have you liked and felt was in it's true sense, a trailer or a teaser? List below.

I would say Kahaani and Queen.

Also list the worst trailers if you want.😆

So pataka is good eh..? Wonder why there is absolutely no buzz about it. 😕
Stree had a good trailer.
Bajirao Mastani had an epic teaser/trailer.
Ram-leela was good too.
Dangal

slb knows how to make trailers really well, i remember being amazed by the ram-leela trailer coz it was edited so well with the scenes and music, the Bajirao mastani trailer with the 'jee re bajirao' theme and for padmavat there was the ranisa theme music which made the trailers hav a big impact

Do bollywood studios make their own trailers? Hollywood has huge trailer editing companies who do just trailers for movies. Like it's an industry of its own because trailer are so important. They even have trailer award shows.

Yeah I feel nowadays trailers reveal the whole plot.

Kahaani trailer was too good. The epic moment when Bob pushes Bidya infront of a train. Way to end the trailer.

Ram Leela was good. So many loved the trailer.

PK and Dangal was interesting.

Vicky Donor trailer was amazing. N Ayushmann new movie trailer about his mom getting pregnant is too good.

Keeping in mind that the actors have zero presence outside their movie and also with no other promotional events, I think 'Pataka' needed that long drawn trailer as the director had only those 3 mnts to promote his movie and he needed to tell as much as possible within those 3 mnts to influence the viewer to buy a ticket and watch the full movie...
The last trailer that I loved which increased my excitement for the movie manyfold was Padmavat..

I personally try to avoid watching the trailers of the movies that I know for sure that I am going to watch...Like now I did not watch the TOH trailer! I feel these trailers, teasers, video songs etc totally spoil my movie watching experience!

This is a worldwide trend, not just in BW. See any HW trailer and you'll see the entire movie in 3 minutes and youtube comments saying the exact same thing.
