Stree had an excellent weekend as it easily crossed the 20 crore nett mark with business of over 21.50 crore nett in the second. This has given the film a total of 81 crore nett in ten days. The film is doing better than Raazi which stood at 78 crore nett after ten days.

There is a chance that the film could go on become a bigger HIT than Raazi but that will depend on the business over the next few weeks where there are many films releasing. The film will become the biggest film of Shraddha Kapoor who has been on a poor run of late as it beats the business of ABCD 2 sometime next week. But rather than the actors its the director who gets the most credit for this film and it was a first time director. The target for the film will be to become the second highest grossing small - medium film after Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

The collections of Stree till date are as follows.

First Week - 59,31,00,000

Friday - 4,35,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 7,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 9,50,00,000 apprx

Second Weekend - 21,60,00,000 apprx (2 Days)

TOTAL - 80,91,00,000 apprx

The holdovers Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi, Gold and Satyameva Jayate all fared badly. Gold was the only film to get to 50 lakhs as it grossed a little over 50 lakhs nett in the fourth weekend. It is still very low for Gold and it is very close to the end of its run.

Good for Bollywood and good for Business.

But that doesn't mean it is a superior movie or Shraddha is better than Alia.
But alas even Alia and Kjo don't think like me, so we will either have a movie within same line announced soon or few negative blinds.

Stree was more of a commercial entertainer than Raazi...but then the latter was from a big banner whereas the former was from small production house...

Glad its doing well. Raazi is not a benchmark movie neither does it belong to the same genre as stree.. so I don't know why there is this constant comparison between Stree n Raazi?

Raazi is this year's benchmark for small/medium movies/releases(2000 screens or less) doing big business.

Stree might sound like a commercial potboiler on paper but personally, I feel Stree is a much superior film than Raazi both content wise and craft wise.
Stree dares to break and question the Indian patriarchal system like no other film has done till now by completely reversing it. There are dialogues and scenes which might look funny but has a deep, underlying satirical meaning in it about what women go through in the country everyday. Technically too, it's a very strong film with the kind of writing, direction and sound mixing that has happened in the film. Also, a clutter breaking film in the whole horror and comedy genre in Bollywood. For me, easily, Stree is the film of the year and the benchmark of how a perfect film should be!

I haven't seen Raazi but Stree subtly raised good issues like about Prostitute who was killed by jealous people.

SPOILER

^ Yes, it is one of those rare BW films where the issue revolves around a prostitute and she has been shown in a good light and also speaks about how irrespective of the profession, everyone deserves respect and it's not okay to do whatever one feels like just because she happens to be a prostitute.Consent in all forms is mandatory. I loved how even the male lead was shown to be a prostitute's son. This is the kind of clutter breaking content BW needs right now where one can entertain yet sensitize the audience at the same time.
