His movies are merely hitting 100cr despite being a holiday release

His recent Gold released on independence day and is finishing with lifetime of 100cr

padman could not even get past 80

and he has yet to cross 150cr lifetime

he is a superstar for sure but is his stardom overrated? the numbers are pretty much beaten by many actors who came much after him

The only Akki movie, which IMO underperformed in theaters is TEPK, it should have crossed 150 mark, others have all exceeded the numbers despite their premise and theme.

😆good publicity and marketing of himself..of course, a huge part of that is courtesy of his wife...

Yes and No

He is far more consistent than the younger lot and even Salman and Ajay. He has a strong and loyal fanbase particularly in the North. Almost everything he does crosses 100 cr.

But I don't think he is some crazy big star and can't be clubbed with Khans. The biggest hits were all with Katrina. And Katrina definitely had a part there. I think him and Katrina together should do a film. Might give him a 150 cr hit finally.

I think the key to this is that he never stopped working...he is just hitting all birds with every stone he can land his hand on...

I was about to make same topic... Gold just earned 8 crore on day 2 while stree did 10 crores 😆 WOM and reviews were positive for gold too... High time he gt it that audience want entertainment not preachy messages!! our lives are already too hectic that we want some laughs n entertainment not biopics n faltu ka gyan

Gold's second day was a regular Thursday while Stree's second day is a Saturday.

And no there is still audience who likes the movies he does. So I hope he does what he does the best, mix up genres and keep both mass and class audience happy.

You are comparing a Thursday with a Saturday. Gold didn't have good reviews. Satyameva Jayate was doing exceptionally well.

And Gold came off a 25 cr opening, compared to Stree's 7. So naturally, Thursday was going to dip.

I infact think that him doing so many films is partially why he isn't as big as say Shah Rukh.

If it's accessible, it is not premium

Akshay probably just wants to make as much money as possible which is why he does all these films. So that's cool. I mean he still has achieved a lot

but SRK, Sallu, Hritik movies never get this drastic reverse jump while many movies of their also released midweek ... whole point is that he is overrated...Ranbir crap movie besharam was also released on Wednesday still collector far better than gold
