It seems to be the next trend, but the question is - will it last? 😆

Web Series won't burn out. It's not a trend, it's a format. Television will shift online. And then people will simply pay for multiple streaming services and will become the very problem they set to solve. 😆

Not anytime soon. Web series are here to stay. The trend these days is converting medium budget films into web series rather than releasing them in theatres. Most of the Indian content we watch were earlier supposed to be films. Even Ghoul was shot as a film and later converted into episodes.
The quality however will keep deteriorating because the Indian web series are still written by script writers like long films hence the confrontation only comes after the first few episodes which makes half the series boring and dry.

I think both web and television is going to co-exist peacefully. I don't see Indian audiences leaving TV for web anytime soon, seeing the kind of streaming speed we have(even with Jio), the tech knowledge of the common people and the kind of content being made on web. Web might replace TV in metros someday but definitely not beyond Tier II cities anytime soon.
I mean a new channel like Star Bharat came in the second spot in a week since it's launch in India in urban and rural market. Only because it's a free to air channel. So unless web provides free or cheaper content price wise, it will never topple TV.

The only medium I think is dying now is cinema. Event films will do well but even mid range films have shifted from theatre to web. Even multiplex audience has stopped going for these films because they know, do mahine main amazon prime mein aa jayega.

Torrent will stay. Those who don't wish to pay for these streaming series #many will keep downloading them.
