Did someone say cinema is going to die? Lol sorry that's never going to happen that stuff has been around for 100's of years

And there is nothing like going to a theatre and watching a movie - nothing can beat that experience.

My biggest issue with web series is Indiana are going to
Go overboard with it. They'll start using bad language and nudity for gimmicky reasons..

Sadly and heartbreakingly, yes! Completely agree that there's nothing as good as watching a film in the theatre but cinema is slowly dying in India. The major source of BO revenues- single screen theatres are slowly disappearing with every year. PVR is literally buying every property or opening a new one. But where's the crowd? Nothing except for event or patriotic films are working with the audience. How can the industry survive with just a Padmaavat, Sanju, Raazi and Sonu Titu Ki Sweety? That too in a country that is known to produce the maximum no. of films in the world? Bollywood is going through the biggest crisis and its out in the open. Even directors have openly spoken about it in interviews. Cinema is slowly dying. Audience is no more interested in coming to theatres. Sucks, I know. :(

India is still driven by rural population where TV rules and likely to rule ahead for a long long time. Web series have gained only prominence in urban population and still it has a long way to go...

Bollywood hasn't had as many hit movies as this year since a long time.

This year has been the most successfull year for Bollywood since a long time. I dont know how cinema is dying with so many hit movies recently.

Yeah India has a long way to go. I downloaded that app ALT-Balaji which has web-series tv shows done by Ekta

The app is horrible (and its not my internet because I live in Canada) - its constantly freezing and rewinding and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. I eventually just gave up and cancelled it, it was too torturous.

It will not burn out, online streaming will eventually takeover TV sets in the West, just like it dispensed with dvds which will be totally out of the picture soon.

Successful compared to the last few years. But look at the number of films that has released in Bollywood this year and how many have become successful. The biggest grosser (above 100 Cr) are limited to just eight films. The other hit and superhit films might have been successful yes but still the footfalls are less. A film like Veere Di Wedding had all the chances to cross 100 Cr looking at the kind of business it did initially yet the footfalls slowly started decreasing.
There is a reason why the Indian space is suddenly filled with web series from every nook and corner. Because the audience is slowly shifting and they want to get hold of their losing audience.
