Chapter 1

"Riya, Mehta case ke file details phir se check karo. Shayad kuch toh chut raha hai. Arjun said to Riya and she nodded and went. He directed Shree to recheck the technical aspects and Chotu to check his informers for any new information. For the past one week, the entire ETF team was working on a case which could bring down the politician Harish Khanna. The case started when a reporter's remains was found his body so heavily decomposed that it was only through his fake tooth that he had implanted that they were able to identify him. The fake tooth contained a microchip that shows that the reporter was investigating the murders of Harish Khanna sister and her husband's death. It was rumoured that Harish Khanna killed his own sister Shivangi Mehta and her husband Rajesh Mehta since the husband belonged to a different caste. While at first there was discontent between the two but later on Harish Khanna stated that he had made up with his sister. The case started when he reported his sister and her husband. Later on their bodies were found burned to a crisp in the car, the only way the identification possible was through their dental records.

Evidence against Harish was fairly thin in that case and the reporter suspected that he had hired a goon to finish this job. Through the microchip, it was found that the reporter had contacted a goon Rajesh Tiwari and conducted a sting operation by acting as a customer to place a contract killing order against one of his colleagues. This was confirmed by the said colleague who stated that he knew about the sting operation and was willing to act as bait. They had decided on a time and place where the Tiwari would attack the said colleague and the colleague will have a body cam to record the attack. Later recording shows the reporter reaching the place to confirm the deal and then getting killed by a blunt blow to the back of the head. The killer left no sound and Shree was cleaning the audio to see if there were other distinctive sounds made by the killer himself.

Sending Riya off to see through the file again, Arjun went through the crime scene photos to see if he missed any clue. Using the photos as an aid he closed his eyes and went through every step they took in the crime scene. Most of the memories shows Arjun how he with Riya's research came to the conclusion that Tiwari was Khanna's henchmen since the time Khanna was just a businessman. How Riya found that in many of the mysterious disappearances of those who were against Khanna could be linked to Tiwari or to one of his henchmen. How Shree's and Chotu's collaboration with informers and previous phone numbers of Tiwari's showed that he could be put in the area for most of these disappearances. How Rathore and him through their contacts were able to find how Khanna's dealings bordered on shadiness yet was still completely legitimate. Yet they were still stuck on how to connect Tiwari to Khanna.

Hearing his phone ring, Arjun opened his eyes at the same time Rathore entered having come back from the meeting with the commissioner to update him on the progress of the case. Showing Rathore it's an unknown number Rathore immediately called out for Shree and Shree quickly arrived with his laptop and set it up to Arjun's mobile. This well rehearsed routine took place in less than one minute and Arjun picked up the phone.

"Arjun Saab, Kaise ho aap? Voice recognition showed that it belonged to Tiwari. Tiwari said "Pehchaana?. Arjun replies "Tumhe kaun nahi pehchaanta? Tumhare hi baare me abhi discuss kar rahe the?. Tiwari said "Aap kuch acha discuss kar rahe the, haina?. Seeing Shree indicate him to continue as he continued to triangulate Tiwari's location, he said "Ha, kaise do din jail me tumhare muh kholenga aur tum sach bolonge who discuss kar rahe the. Tiwari laughed, a chill in his laughter "Jail ka dhamki dekhar hume darane ki koshish kar rahe hai. Koi baat nahi Arjun saab, aap hume jail me daal dijiye do din me hum bahar aajayenge, aur rahi baat sach bolne ki toh humne toh pehle bhi sach bola tha ki hum ek businessman hai.

Arjun said "Bulaya kyu Tiwari?. Seeing Riya enter with a parcel in her hands, everyone stiffened. Keeping the parcel on the table, she wrote on the Paper NO BOMB' and indicated Shree to double check. Tiwari said "Woh humne appki office me ek chota sa tohfa bejha hai. Ab aap apne uss khubsurat chamiya ko bol denge ki woh parcel ko khol denge phir hum aage ki baat karenge. He then cut the phone. Shree shook his head saying the call came from an untraceable burner phone. He then checked the box and indicated that it was okay. Making Riya stand back against her protest as it could be dangerous for her, Rathore took the knife and opened the box. Opening the box a puzzled expression came on Rathore's face, he removed all the coverings and holding it carefully, took out a pot with half completed paintings on it. Arjun was confused and the next second heard a pen drop to the floor. Turning he saw Riya face whiten and her expression grew terrified as only one word came out of her mouth "Laado.

Within 10 minutes, everyone was in the car and heading in the direction of Riya's home. Riya sat immediately in the front with Arjun and he could see the mind numbing fear on her face as she is trying to call but no one is picking up. Shree informed that the phone's location shows at home. Reaching her home which was half an hour distance from the office, Riya immediately jumped out of the car without waiting for the car to stop. Arjun rushed after her and stopped her at the lifts saying "Riya, please this could be a trap. But the only word that came out of her mouth "Laado. Arjun held Riya's face gently in his hands and looking straight into her glistening eyes promises her "Mai Laado ko kuch nahi hone doonga. I promise. Arjun could feel a sense of amazement as Riya's panic lessened a little and she seemed to have more control of her senses. Indicating to others that she can make decisions, they proceeded in the lifts to the top floor.

Entering the floor cautiously and seeing only two flats on this floor, Riya indicated the door on the right. Even though she was reluctant, she let Arjun sir and Rathore sir take the front place knowing that she would not be able to handle multiple attackers at the same time. Riya removed the key from her necklace and handed it to Arjun sir. She sees how a silent communication happens between Arjun sir and Rathore sir and Arjun sir takes the lower position while Rathore sir takes the higher position. Chotu positions himself right beside Rathore sir while Shree positions himself near Arjun sir covering his left side. She stands behind them her heart hammering and a prayer on her lips.

Arjun opens the door and all of them enter. Riya had always imagined that she would feel a sense of happiness having the ETF team in her home. But right now she feels a sense of numbness overtake her as she sees a home that she and her Laado had painstakingly created in complete ruins. The sofas were torn up, the curtains were pulled down, there was glass everywhere. Laado's favourite teddy bear which had been kept it on the sofa was facing her, the head separated from the body. She felt all feeling leave from her legs and she was going to fall on the glass when two pair of hands held her by the shoulder. she could recognise the touch of her best friend and the man she was starting to consider more calling her but she could not register anything they said.

Arjun could remember clearly the day he got the call of his Roshni missing. He could remember the numbness he had felt when he entered the home only to see it in complete disarray, signs of struggle everywhere. He had always felt that type of pain should never be felt by anyone. That day was the day he swore he would never let his heart feel that kind of pain again. Yet seeing the woman who always fought to prove herself struggle with the scene in front of her Arjun felt the same kind of pain rise up for her. And he knew at that moment like he knew when he saw his Roshni killed in front of him, like he had sworn his whole life to find Sikander similarly if anything happens to Laado then Tiwari would face the kind of torture that will even put Hell's punishment in shame.

So I know I should be updating my other stories, but the truth is that I have seriously lost my trail of imagination in those stories. So I might end up most probably discontinue those stories. So I am really sorry that I am not able to complete those stories.
