As far as Grahan is concerned, you've not missed anything at all. A serial that started on a promising note, ended an utter failure. Atleast for a few intellectuals who wanted to carve some meaning out of it. Like the ones present here.
The story was supposedly inspired from one popular writer's novel. I fail to understand why they'd even mention they have since the story took a 360 degrees turn from the novel. Maybe the producers and the novel writer walked laughing all the way to the bank. At our expense.
They kept it open ended as far as Mangal's spirit was concerned. Granted. I'll give them that. Even we wanted Mangal to avenge her accidental death. So let's go with the fact that it was indeed her spirit that caused the electrical anomalies, etc. Anna somewhere knew that as well.
But how does Rama find herself in Mangal's train compartment and gel empathetically with her between the electrical disturbances is one heck of a puzzle. Maybe the writers wanted to incorporate the parallel universe theory then. Which ofcourse, the trp readings and the sponsors preferred changing later.
Finally as most of you mentioned, going with the trend based on past serials, the ending was super rushed. Abrupt.
Ok, everything that we speculated turned wrong. That's cos we went with the novel and maybe felt that we're mature enough an audience to accept paranormal happenings.
But to end the serial as a mere story on deceipt and family feud is challenging our sensibilities. That, after religiously following it for months. I was rather disheartened with the conclusion.
Today I had to convince my aai that the serial had actually ended 😆 She would've still waited at 10:30 on Monday.
Anyway, it's thanks to her that I watched Grahan.
More than the serial, our interactions here have been super interesting and healthy. I'll never forget that. Thanks a lot to all of you who breathed life in an otherwise lifeless plot. And just for the sake of being with you all, I wish the serial would've have ever ended.
With a busy schedule, it's not always possible to follow what's on TV on a regular basis. Maybe the concept of this serial and majorly our conversations is what kept me glued to it. Might not be possible with the next ones.
I'll try to share independent anecdotes in the new threads where you all are present with your interesting gappa-tappa's.
