She did Quantico and Baywatch. He did the Newsroom and Lion. Those are very, very different target audiences.

I don't think it's fair to compare because he's had a big head start but I think he is known (or not) as a serious actor who makes good films. She is known (or not) as a pretty woman, successful overseas, who wants to be famous here. Maybe if she's given better films or he's offered a franchise role that will change.

Priyanka Chopra is first and foremost a Bollywood star. So saying who is more popular internationally is a little silly to ask because PC has a huge fan following due to Bollywood alone. A lot of people who gave Quantico a chance were PC's Bollywood fans for the sake of PC herself.

Dev Patel has his share of recognition, but it's different.

The thing is, outside India, the people who watch Indian films are almost always of Indian descent. There is not currently any real international market for Indian films with few exceptions like the Lunchbox. Some Chinese star I've never heard of could be the most successful "international " star if all he/she needed was a fan base at home and the Chinese diaspora abroad. That's not truly international.
