Shah Rukh Khan has the same reach and has not worked at all in the west and I am sure some white people who've never seen a single film of his and couldn't pick him out of a lineup would recognize his name; those same people will never pay for a ticket to his film or appearances. If that is internationally successful to you then he's internationally successful. In my opinion if the name recognition doesn't lead to a truly international (white, black, brown, etc) audience, its not truly international success.

@bold: I disagree.

I think international success doesn't require recognition from every color out there. You can be an international star without recognition from the whites and blacks. By your logic, Dev Patel is more the international star than SRK.

We aren't comparing Tom Cruise and PC here...

You're right. We disagree on the definition which is okay. And I would indeed consider Dev a more international star than SRK. By absolutely no means a bigger star but a more international star. On the other hand the vast majority of BW stars go hoarse shouting how much they don't care about the international (outside the subcontinent diaspora) market, so even they don't care.

Priyanka Chopra is first and foremost a Bollywood star. So saying who is more popular internationally is a little silly to ask because PC has a huge fan following due to Bollywood alone. A lot of people who gave Quantico a chance were PC's Bollywood fans for the sake of PC herself.

Dev Patel has his share of recognition, but it's different.

When i say international, i was talking about europe or US not countries where bolly films are popular

Dev is more successful in Hollywood. PC is no even in rear mirror. When PC gets nominated for Oscars we will talk about her success. She is famous for her affair, bikinis she wore in miami. Acting credentials are zero.
Well known is a different thing all together. PC is regular page 3 news so maybe more popular with people who loves gossip but success wise she is a flop star.
