One of my favorites of all time 👏 Though I love it, I think it was too "realistically" sad... It's a film that stays with you for awhile, you'd have to be in a certain mood to watch it.

Aishwarya was brilliant as Umrao Jaan, but I personally like Rekha's Umrao Jaan more than this one.

I thought she was great in the role. But the movie was slow and more on the artsy indie side than a mainstream Bollywood movie. Though I think that happened very unintentionally on J.P. Dutta's part. Also it's kind of movie that needed great memorable music. The songs sucked. I don't know if good songs would have made it a hit but maybe not as bad of a flop as it was.
