Just saw the movie. Somebody help me explain why Akshay didn't dump her ass? His wife never supported him, always cared more about personal embarrassment, left him when things went bad, ignored him for ages, conveniently remembers him when he's all successful. On the other hand Sonam helped him, made him a better man, did so unconditionally and was ready to even put out. 😆

That's what Indian sanskari bahus are expected to be right even in real life. To care for saas ,sasur, Nanand , chacha mauosi, bua , even ramu kaka over her husband. Husband is extra in her story. But now days bahus hav changed, you wont get any tipical slave bahu anymore.

Modern sensitivities ko dekha jaye toh aap sahi hain kintu padman ki biwi bhi apne jagah sahi thi kyunki unhone yehi dekha tha aur yehi seekha tha . Aap log aaj bhi gaon dehat jaiye toh sacchai jaan paenge , yeh newyork , london mein baithkar atmabodh nahi hoga .

Boss ji...agar modern biwi hoti...toh iss movie ko banane ka kya maksad hota?? The point itself was that how women do not take care of themselves, their hygiene etc...she was playing a typical wife in rural India...I know its difficult to believe but its a reality and anyways it is a biopic...true story.

well she did support her husband but just like any other village woman she didn't had. a caring and supporting father like Sonam or brothers. She was dominated by almost everyone, by society and her family. Poor woman never had any free will. And it is not like she didn't supported him, but the time when she left him, or if you watched the movie she was forcefully taken away by her brothers, she didn't left him with her full consent while she did hesitated in the time, but then again just see the circumstances in which she left him.
A lady who has always been controlled by the norms of the society failed to understand the freedom and equality her husband gave her. She didn't recognised nor she was familiar with the progressive nature of Padman. So obviously instead of shamming her it is better if we understand her and why her actions were like that.

And one of things that you are totally wrong about is, she didn't remembered him back because he was successful, she realised why he was a great husband, when she saw her own brother abusing and fat shaming her sister in law, it was that moment when she realized how much better was her husband than other men she was surrounded by.

And why Padman went back to her?? Well because his life revolved around her, for him his main motive in life was always the happiness and good health of his wife, others were all secondary.

Agreed but it doesn't mean her behavior is right. What happened to being together in sickness and health etc? Everyone was important for her except her husband
