Face sketch by description in movies

Giving facial description for sketch is a hard thing to do. Only people with artistic skills can give an elaborate description in my opinion. I wouldn't even be able to describe my close ones well for a sketch. How come in movies every person is good at it or is it just me?

PS: Just finished watching "Missing" movie and realized it is hard to describe a face LOL

Haina?! I always found it strange too.. Since I opened this topic, I am trying to imagine the faces of people I saw today morning, I see them almost everyday - can only gather a blurry image.

And in movies the characters describe faces of strangers who they see for very very short time, some even fleeting moments and they describe nose size, scar on left side of nose, eye shape, eyebrow shape, hairline and all..

But face sketching happens in real life too, we see sketches of criminals given out by the police.. I really wonder at this..
