Zoya always addresses people "aap". She even calls Mahi also "aap". I thought it must be what her parents taught. Maybe her parents also address her with "aap".

that is Lucknawi style urdu perhaps, and she's a muslim girl, and as for aap even I talk to my parents and sister as aap, ammi aap and abbu aap and we don't use hum we use mein , so it's quite natural.
