Sita's education?

Hello friends, this is my first post on this forum. I must say I am enjoying the new Ramayan very well ...

However I do see a wrinkle in the story: While Ram was undergoing his training at Gurudev Vashisth's ashram; Sita was also undergoing her education under some Rishi. Even the princesses were taught gyan, sanskaar and etiquettes. However, we see in this serial that every time the focus shifted from Ram to Sita, she was either frolicking with her sisters or praying to the Shivdhanush. In fact, the story goes that Raja Janak had brought in Maharishi Gautam (Ahilya's husband) to teach Sita. But Sita refused to learn from a man who could not respect a woman. Sita's outburst opened his eyes and made Maharishi Gautam ashamed of his deeds. He subsequently went away for penance. So Raja Janak then brought someone else to teach Sita (I forget his name).

Just wanted to share a thought that's all… Let me know what you folks think!

No, i think once or twice they showed sita dancing and learning under the guidence of some sanyasini mataji.
however since the focus is own sreeRam it is very natural that his education etc are shown elaborately

Sita and her sisters were imparted education inside palace. Ram and his brothers were in ashram for education. This is not surprising because in those days, princesses were treated very delicately.

Yes they showed just a few seconds of Sita being given shiksha by Gurumata. Her name in the serial BTW is Gargi-ji. This may be a historical inaccuracy according to my limitrd knowledge. Gargi was the wife of Yajnavalkya (Gurumata usually refers to wife of the Guru - who in Mithila was none other than Shataanand... and Gargi was definately not his wife ). As far as I recall, Sita was educated by Shatanand-ji.

An interesting snippet tho is that Gargi's husband Yajnavalkya engaged in a historical philosophical debate with Raja Janaka - as is recorded in the upanishadas

Hi Aalochak,
Brihad Aranyak Upanishad talks about the dialog between Yajnavalkya and Gargi. Gargi asks questions and Yajnavalkya answers them.
You have written that Gargi was Yajnavalkya's wife. No, Gargi was not Yajnavalkya's wife. Yajnavalkya had two wives - Maitreyi and Katyayani.
You have written that Yajnavalkya had philosophical discourse with king Janak. No, he answered Gargi's questions in king Janak's court.
