Oh I 100% realize that and that's just as problematic! Its just ludicrous that after claiming they are planning on having a cast that's "authentic to that world" unlike Prince of Persia and a worldwide search for perhaps the first mainstream Hollywood big-budget production ofothis nature, they casted her, a half white half Indian woman who is pretty much the whitest woman they could find that still has some "brown" in her. The colourism is so real, it hurts - the backslash to Disney's move was strong.

^^^ Yeah, that half bullshit doesn't fly. She still looks white except with a tan. 😆 It's ridiculous that in this day and age they still try to pass off white actors for POC characters. 🥱

THIS!!!! People are quick to claim things. Aladdin might've had Chinese origins but it is known as a part of ARABIAN NIGHTS. 🥱 And yes they should've been authentic in the casting and no half white half Indian actress should've gotten the part of Jasmine. There is no cardinal rule that Indians HAVE to claim each and every brown character.

Though no one claimed the actress had to be Indian? It's the fact that Jasmine is supposed to brown, more than anything. Indians tend to have brown skin, though as long she looked the part, a middle eastern actress can also be picked. But the underlying issue here is trying to white wash characters. It doesn't matter if this naomi kid is half, she still looks white. That was the point.
