Are Semi-Hit/ Average Movies 'Successful'

I see lots of Varun fans who are so adamant that Semi-Hit, Below Average, Average movies are still "successful"

I know lots will disagree, because in order for a movie to be considered "successful" it needs to

A) Earn Profit and

B) Be A CLEAN HIT. Again - CLEAN HIT.

In the past whenever I have discussed box office, the phrase clean hit has always been shoved down my throat, so are we now going to change the rules just because its Varun?

Verdicts like Semi Hit/Average are nothing but consolation prizes. if a movie was a "success" it would be a hit then 😆 You cant call a movie average and then say its successful #LetsBeReal

Successful = Hit/Superhit/Blockbuster

I know Varun fans want to live in this alternate reality where all his films are "successful" but no matter how hard you try to force this onto the rest of us...ITS NOT TRUE!

Depends how you measure success. I recently saw some movies like The Silence, Qarib Qarib Single, Running Shadi, Shadi mein zaroor aana etc. Not sure how much it earned at the box office but if it earns my praise then I consider it successful movie.

Oh that means the number of success that all the actors has had(all,not just Varun)May be 2 or 3..At least the newer lot.

Us hisab see ranbir has 5 success in 10 years with Varun 5 in 5 years

Ranveer lagging behind with 3 success in 7 years that too only with slb.

Ah, I just knew from the topic title who the the TM was and was waiting for you to namedrop Varun. 😆🤗

Actually, Varun fans are not "fooling" anyone, you seem to be the only one who is hung up about this "9th success in a row" thing. I mean, sure, not everyone is complimentary towards Varun's BO performance but they mostly say stuff like his film's budget is not huge like Bombay Velvet or Padmaavat or there's less risk etc. Haven't seen many denying Varun's success record, mostly just you. 😳

Anyway, tere khatir, whenever I, as a Varun fan, mention his successes, I will say:

"Varun's 9th success in a row (For Shaitan-Haiwan read: 9th non-flop)." Khush? 😳

And even you have to admit, having no flops for a young actor is a huge thing. Ranbir, Ranveer, Arjun, Sushant, Sid, Tiger all have at least one. 😃

I have always said this. If I like a movie ,it is personally a success for me.

As far as box office is considered, if the ppl like it and re-watch it and the costs are recovered, then it's a win.

I don't get the stubbornness of ppl saying, it HAS TO reach this mark to be a success otherwise we don't count it.

Such fanatics.

The same Varun fans who bash Ranveer for being unable to give hits without SLB praise Varun for his so called "successes". By applying the Varun logic Ranveer too hardly has any BO failures apart from Kill Dill and Lootera.

DDD & Befikre are below averages. Which means failure.

Sucess is overrated. Varun inspite of being massively succesful in numbers isn't considered the greatest of heros by the masses coz the kind of movies he's done aren't really praise-worthy according to people. Ranbir on the other hand has had 4-5 years of consistent failures is still considered a great actor. Same for Kangana. I hope Varun ends up proving everyone wrong by his out of the box roles this year so that no one questions the validity of his awards. Ranveer has already done that.
