Was the 1970's more bold than today?

I looked back on some films are realized for the time they seemed a bit bold. Like in Bobby you see some nudity from Rishi. Siddarth staring Shashi Kapoor and Simi Garewal had a nude scene and love scene. Item numbers were becoming a thing. *Dont know if this is considered bold* and there was a film Julie, which covered the topic of teen pregnancy.
Do you think it was more bold then, or now? If so, name some more examples.

I saw a film named manoranjan starting Sanjeev Kumar and zeenat Aman. That film was so bold..in it's content as well as what zeenat wore...I'm pretty certain in one of the scenes where she was wearing only a kurti covering her ass barely, she wasn't wearing any undergarments 😉
I think the 70s we're definitely bold. Considering that that was a couple of decades ago, we don't seem to have raised the threshold much. In fact it has led me to believe that only simpleminded people think that earlier people were conservative and now they have become open-minded. There have always been people of all types..there aren't really many new ideas coming now that haven't already existed culturally.

So true

I was thinking about this 1976 movie "Do Anjane" and how bold the theme was... There's no nudity but heroine character was bold for it's time

An ambitious, fame hungry middle class housewife, a bharatiya nari, willing to do cabaret,
going as far as doing away with her husband...

She smokes, drinks and the surprising thing is they don't even portray her as villain or vamp

Many people think we are advancing but believe me we are going back to the stone ages.

In the 60s and 70s sexual revolution was taking place (maybe only in the west), it was a period of "free love" and movies were getting bolder, love scenes were becoming sex scenes

So naturally BW movies which have always been reflection of Westren movies have to be affected by that too

Although even if the movies had bold scenes, in most cases they emphasized true love and Indian culture :-)

I think so too. And when I saw some of these old films, for their time I thought "wow, why aren't we doing some of these things now" but it's also people's view points in life these days. 😕

That was a good movie. Luk chhip luk chhip song was so good. One movie I like with Amitabh Bachchan. I don't know about bold because if hurting other people and being selfish is bold then it''s better not to be. Totally hated Rekha's character in the movie. Strength and honour is very important to me.

Tbvh, when people go there was no skin show and such in the older days, I'm dumbfounded. Because there were a lot of bold scenes shown plainly in movies. It was so uncomfortable to watch at times. 😆

It hasn't changed though. Even if there was a film with some raunchy scenes I wouldn't be completely comfortable watching with my family.

True. But I think you pretty much know ahead of time which movies would have such scenes. Though in the older movies, I at-least wasn't used to expecting it so it used to come as a shock. lol. 😆
