Actually, I differ from everyone here, but in a good way. 😊

Being a North American grade 8 student myself, I know what is going on. Most black kids are doing poorly in their schools because they don't understand the teachers and the teachers do not understand them. Almost all teachers in here are white and it's just not easy for them to get along with black students.

For one, black students tend to make fun of the teachers a lot, and so the hatred forms between them. If the students had a teacher who was "equal" to them, they would understand and respect the teacher better. Attitude is BIG here, because the white teachers give the blacks attitude and the black students give the white teachers attitude.

Secondly, here in north american schools, white teachers are not considered that much "fun" to blacks. At the same time, a black teacher who is equally (if not more) strict gains more respect from the black students, because they are considered "cool". Therefore, the black students listen to these teachers with more respect.

I feel that if you look at it academically, this is a good idea. I am 200% sure that black students will do better in school if these schools come up. But, if this is going to start too many differences between whites and blacks again, maybe it won't be a good idea. I guess we have to choose between the academic future or the racial future of the black students.

Very well said.. I agree it is a good idea to have seperate black schools if the purpose is for them to study better. after all there are all girls/boys schools, gifted/special needs schools etc, catholic/religious schools (albeit not with tax payers money), but the idea is good and it works ..😛

People have got their wrong facts here😕 This school is NOT exclusively for blacks anyone is allowed to join in despite what their race might be😛 The ONLY difference in this school and rest is that they will be focusing MORE on the african american history and the problems plaguing their community today😊 I personally think this is a very good step because i have myself seen african canadian kids face a lot of problems in the socitey today mainly because they have repressed themselves. Also, since african canadians DO have the highest drop out rates around the GTA mostly because of the school system so if this works for them then I don't see any problems init😊

Also, just to let everyone know this whole proposal is from the black community itself so it's not like white or brown people are pushing them to seperate😊

i think it's better to stay at seperate skool independtly and not bullied or nething like that u know racism. that's my perspective. i mean i wouldn't want to study in skool where everyone or some people make fun of you or be racist. it would real;y break my heart. so instead i would rather stay ina skool where eveyone is like myself and be happy.

Well if that's true then I guess that is prety good, teaching kids of their history and after all they now have christian and muslim shools then wat's the harm in black schools if they will learn of their history and accomplishments😃
