Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh worked together for the first time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. While Shahid essays the role of a noble king in the film, Ranveer plays the antagonist.
There have been many reports about cold vibes brewing between Shahid and Ranveer. Shahid even admitted in media interactions that he felt like an outsider on the sets as Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have worked together earlier.
In an earlier interview, Shahid Kapoor had said that he would have done the role of Alauddin Khilji differently. He had said, "Of course. Which actor would not wish to play a character like Khilji in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film? You know, once on 'Koffee with Karan', Ranveer said he would have done my role in 'Kaminey' better than me... I would have done Khilji differently.
Ranveer was asked about this in an interview with a leading news channel today. When asked about the cold vibes between them and his statement on Kaminey, Ranveer said, "I think in my first year I was very arrogant. In retrospect, that is not something I should have said. I regret saying that (I could have done Kaminey better than Shahid Kapoor)
He also said that Shahid saying that he would have played Khilji differently was him stating the obvious. He said, "What's wrong in saying that, it's stating the obvious. Every actor brings something unique to the table, so every actor will approach a part in his or her own way.
