I saw that feature last night, it was sad and disturbing. One thing that left me confused was were they escort services or prostitutes. The news feature uses both terms, but escorts usually just accompany and do not have sex, the maximum they may do is a strip tease. It is still companionship for sale, but there is a difference. Many women are more comfortable being escorts rather than prostitutes.

In my opinion the biggest reason for people to hire escorts is pressure. People get teased, chided or questioned for being single especially on Valentine's day. As if by some miracle everyone should be hooked up on that day. When I was in college in India there were a couple of guys and girls who would hire escorts (NOT prostitutes) to accompany them to parties and clubs simply because they did not want to feel left out or separated from friends who all had 'Valentine's Dates'. In the States also many people will turn to escorts for prom dates, wedding dates etc because of a high stigma attached to being single and all the endless grilling some singles face. Not all these people who hire escorts are lusty individuals looking for sex, many are people just desperate to fit in.

That is why I get upset at the commercial hype around Valentine's day. It makes good people do ridiculous and stupid things. People need to realize the most important thing that love cannot be rushed, bought or forced. It takes time and patience. Perhaps a single person celebrates Valetine's better by understanding the value of waiting for the right person and right time, than the bunch of idiots who rush to find romantic link ups.

valentines day is for lovers - right,or did the meaning just changed ... to guys getting diamonds for girls... 😕

i mean i look forward for the day to make my valentine feel special about it, it can also be biryani that i make 😆, i mean its like saying i blah blah (the real words only for my valentine 😆 ) but in a special way....

why are we stressing on emptying guys pockets and looting diamonds from them,
even girls got to give good things to guys they love...😃

anyway i don't think the day matters so much anyway, but when everyone is buying red heart ballons mera dil hai ki manta naheen, aur valentine ka dil chahta hai.... 😃
