Chapter 9
Prem and Heer both looked nervously at each other. Both wanted to start the conversation. But, it was Prem who decided to break the silence first.
"Heer ji, kya apne koi gaana thick kya?" Prem asked Heer.
"Kutch ganne ke ware mein soach rahi thi, hume ek aisi ganna chunne hogi jo duet ho." Heer remarked.
"Mein aapse puri tarah se sahemat hu, waise bhi mujhe pata hein challenge aap hi jeet rahi hein, kynki mere kehayl se aap se accha to koi gayi nahi sakta." Prem praised Heer, as he was already impressd by her sweet voice.
Heer on the other hand felt blushed and pleased at the same time. Before today many people had praised her singing talent, but when Prem praised her, she felt it was special from others.
It seemed more special to her as Prem himself was a great singer. In her mind Perm's voice was flawless.
" Ji nahi mujhe ye nahi lagti, aap ki gaane mein alag se koshish hein Prem ji jo har kisi ki dil ko chu jaye. Iss liye meri manato aap hi jitenge." Heer commented.
Prem also felt good when he heard the compliment from her.
"Let's agree to disagree Heer ji, mujhe lagta hein hume koi esa ganna chunna chaiye jisme melody ho, aur jo human emotion ko acche tarike se bayan kare."Prem told her in a smiling face.
Heer felt her heart skipped a beat when she saw his beautiful smile. Yes, Heer today realized that, her husband was exceptionally handsome.
"Mujhe lagtI hein aap "Hum rahe na rahe." ko consuder kar sakti hein." Heer suggested.
"Excellent suggestion Heer ji, mujhe bhi ye gaane bahut pasand hein. Jo chease mujhe sabse acche lagi hein iss gaane mein wo hein iski dhun saati saat iss gaane ka jo theme heina wo bhi mujhe bahut pasand hein." Prem remarked.
" Mujhe bhi uss gaane ki main theme bahut jyda pasand hein, jis romantic tarike se yaha par sacche payyar ko bayan kiya gaya hein wo saache mein tarif ke kaabil hein." Heer told Prem in agreement.
" Ha Heer ji, mera bhi yahi khayal hein iss gaane ki warhe. Mujhe ye gaane aur bhi pasand hein kyun ki mein bhi samaj thi hu sacche payyar kabhi nahi badalta hein, premio ka ant ho jate, lekin un dono ki ek dusre ke liye jo payyar ka ehassas hein wo zinda raheti hein. "Prem told Heer.
Heer was impressed when she heard Prem's thought about true love. It made her feel better, when she came to know that, Prem also a big believer of true love and his thought about love was similar to hers.
It once again reminded Heer that, despite unconventional characteristics of their pair due to their age, they had extreme level of similarities between them in everything.
"Ha Prem ji, meri bhi yahi kheyal hein Payyar ka eheas kabhi khatam nahi hoti hein." Heer commented.
"Jis khub surat ehasas do insan ko roohu ki rishte mein bandte hein wo kabhI khayam nahi ho sakta hein. Payyar kabhi bhi koi formula ka mokhapekshi nahi hein." Prem told Heer.
"Bilkul sahi kaheingein aapne. Payyar to wo jasbat hein jo koi logic nahi mante hein. Payyar mein do insan ek dusre ki kamjori mein bhi takad dhoond leti hein, ek doosri ki har ek khamiyako dono apna leti hein." Heer remarked.
"Ek premi kI liye sari duniya ka soach, nafrat kutch maine nahi rakte unki premika ki kushi ki samne." Prem told Heer while watching her beautiful face.
Suddenly both of them observed that, they were holding each other hands, it seemed like they lost so much in their discussion that, they never noticed when their hands found each other.
Both blushed slightly after observing that and both shyly removed their hands.
They felt different type of emotion that time. Both of them were feeling shyness, comfort, little insecurity, little confusion, and unknown desire at the same time.
Their thought process was interrupted when they saw their family members were coming back to the room.
" To bhaiya, bhabi kaun se gaana chuni hein aap dono ne?" Prert asked.
" Kya pata un dono ne koi gaane ko lekar discuss kiya hein ya nahi
Meri khayal se to jab ekle mein ek kamre mein do jawan ladke ladki waqt bitati hein jo ek dusre se abhi abhi shaddi ki hein to wo dono kutch aur karti hein gaana gaane ki ilwa." Daljeet commented.
Prem and Heer felt awkard after hearing Daljeet comment.
"Daljeet tu aur teri jaban, halat ko to thodi si samjhakar." Gayetri scolded Daljeet.
"Lo bhai, mein galat kya boli hein, are shaddi ke baad agar pati, patni ek dusre se najjdik na hui to iss bada abnormal baat kya ho sakti hein. Agar koi bhi pati aapni patni ke liye aapne dil mein chahat feel nahi kya na to samaj leni chaiye wo pati apni shadi shuda zindegi mein kush nahi hein. Ye tabhi hota hein jab wo ladke majboori ki khatir aapne patni se shadi kya hein." Daljeet commented.
Everyone in the room realized that, Daljeet tried to taunt Prem and Heer in her comment.
Prem felt irritated by her behavior. After living with Maan for few days, he realized that, Daljeet had tendency of finding unhealthy pleasure by taunting people when they were in difficult situation.
Still Prem did not thought, Daljeet would be so cruel that, she would taunt her own nice who was facing a difficult situation.
He could see that Heer was feeling very uncomfortable at that moment. Prem did not know why but he suddenly put his hand on Heer hand to show support.
Heer was slightly surprised by that gesture of Prem but she also felt pleased that, Prem was showing his support to her. Therefore, she looked at Prem and smiled at him to convey that she was glad that, he as supporting her.
Prem felt warmth in his heart when he saw slight smile in her beautiful face. Then, Prem decided that, he should give a strong reply to Daljeet.
"Daljeet mami, lagta hein rishto ka bahut hein gheyra samaj hein aapko , par apko pata hein shaddi ke baat naya dulha -dulhaan ek dusre se bahut sare baate karte hein, mein aur Heer ji bhi bahut sare baate ki.
Aapko pata hein humne to kutch aisi insan ke bare bhi baat ki hein jinki naak haad se zyda lambi hein.
Aur Preet, ha maine aur Heer ji ne gaana chun liya hein aur wo hein "Hum hein iss pal yaha". Prem informed them.
Balraj and Teji both were glad that, Prem strongly replied to Daljeet. As parents they again felt reassurance in their mind that, Prem would be a great son in law for them.
"Acche choice hein Jiju, bahut hi romantic gaana hein, to shuru kije gaana aap dono." Meher told them.
Prem and Heer did not waste any moment after that and they both stood up and Prem started to sing .
Prem thought about how at the end of the day some relationship left it mark even after people's demise. He knew he and Heer did not marry each other in a normal circumstance but he hoped one day he would have a beautiful relationship with Heer and it would be build on mutual trust, respect and love. Then he sung.

Heer felt mesmerized after hearing Prem's voice. Yes, her husband had a good singing talent. Heer slightly blushed as she realized she was thinking Prem primarily as her husband. She could feel Prem's emotion behind those lines. She realized that, Prem was hoping for a future where they would have a beautiful life together. She wanted to convey to Prem that, she also wanted the same thing. Therefore, she sung-
hum hain iss pal yahan
jaane ho kal kahan
hum mile na mile
hum rahe na rahe
rahegi sadaa yahan
pyar ki yeh dastaan
sunenge sadaa jisse
yeh zameen asmaan
After hearing the beautiful voice of his wife, Prem felt that, Heer had a very good voice. Prem could also feel her emotion behind every word. He could sense that, Heer was also hoping for a good future with him but at the same time, she was feeling some insecurity.
Prem wanted to assure her that, he would be a person on whom she could rely on. He would not leave her even when they would face trouble. Prem sung-
rang dhal jaate hain
din badal jaate hain
raatein so jaati hain
raahein kho jaati hain
pyar khota nahin
pyar sota nahin
pyar dhalta nahin
haan badalta nahin
Heer smiled shyly after hearing that, she could sense that, Prem was trying to say that, he would be a person on whom she could look for support even in tough situation. She Also wanted to convey that, she would be his partner in fulfilling the dream of a good future. She sung-
hum hain iss pal yahan
jaane ho kal kahan
hum mile na mile
hum rahe na rahe
rahegi sadaa yahan
pyar ki yeh dastaan
sunenge sadaa jisse
yeh zameen asmaan
hum jahan aaye hain
meherbaan saaye hain

Karwaan laaye hain
dhadkane hain jawaan
gaa raha hai samaa

Prem did not know when he came closer to Heer. It seemed like Heer voice had a magic, which was pulling him towards her. He looked at her beautiful dark brown eyes and sung.
hum mile na mile
Heer felt Prem's presence near her. But she did not feel any discomfort about it. For Heer it seemed very natural. She was also feeling an unknown pull towards him .She looked at his eyes which was holding the promise of a better future together. They sung together-
hum rahe na rahe
rahegi sadaa yahan
pyar ki yeh dastaan
sunenge sadaa jisse
yeh zameen asmaan
They lost in each other's eyes after the ending of the song. However, they recovered quickly when they heard loud clapping sounds from their family members.
"Wah di, wah jiju aap dono hein hi bahut bariya gaya hein. Bilukul chu gayi dil ko." Geet praised their singing.
"Aap dono ki gape mein jadu hein, aur aap do no mein co ordination bhi bahut accha tha." Preet commented.
"Mujhe to lagta hein dono hein bariya gaya hein, koi kisi se kam nahi hein, meri najar mein dono hi winner hein. " Lalit declared.
"Hamari bhi yahI hein maana hein." Balraj supported his friend's judgment.
Therefore, post-wedding ritual were ended up into atie between Prem and Heer.
" Preet, Mujhe bahut accha lagi iss baat ko, jaha unhone Daljeet chachi ki baat ko jawab dei." Meher commented.
" Mujhe pata hein, Prem bhaiya aapna har rishto ko hamesha aapne dil se nibhata hein. Aaj ke baat mujhe pura yakeen ho gaya ki Prem bhaiwa aur Heer bhabi ka rishta jaroor work karegi." Preet remarked.
"Bhagwan kare tumhare baate saach nikle Preet." Meher told Preet.
"Accha,Meher mujhe batao, tumhe dance karnI aati hein." Preet asked Meher.
"Mujhe classical dancing thodi se atti hein, lekin mujhe porm dancing bilkul nahi aati." Meher told Preet.
" Kya tum kabhi bhi college new year porm mein nahi gayi ka?" Preet again asked Meher.
"Nahi Preet, mein nahi gayi aisi function pe, mein utna glamorous nahi hu, thoda plus size bhi hu muj pe western dress suit bhi nahi karengi."Meher told him in a sad voice.
"Meher agar tumhe western dress parne mein discomfort feel hoti hein, to wo alag baat hein, lekin mujhe ye maat batana ki tum western dress me aache nahi dekhoge. Meher khobsoortiya hamesha one dimensional nahi hota hein. Khobsoortiya to sadgi mein hoti hein. Meher tum ek baat acche tarike se janlo, tum ek khubsaroot ladki ho, jisme mein alag si ek sadki hein." Preet did not give Meher any chance to reply and left the place.
Meher felt thousands butterflies were flying in her stomach. Meher felt her check was getting red as she remembering the face of Preet when he said that she was beautiful.
She was already feeling a connection and comfortless with Preet. However, now after today she realized that, she was also feeling an attraction towards him.
Suddenly the world looked better according to her.
A middle-aged woman observed the whole conversation between Preet and Meher and she lost in thought after seeing that.
