You are my destiny

Chapter 14

Prem was observing his wife carefully; he could see that she was in some deep thought. Prem knew Heer was facing many pressures from all the side and it might cause some sense worry in Heer's mind.

"Ab bhi Daljeet chachi ki baat ko liye aab pereshan hein?" Prem asked Heer in a gentle voice.

Heer came back from her thought after hearing her husband's voice. She was indeed thinking about the words of Daljeet. She was thinking about herself and Prem. She did not have any doubt about Prem's intention to make their relationship work. However, at the same time Heer knew that, they would face people like her Daljeet chachi who would cast her and Prem as an abnormal couple due to their age difference.

As a student of law, Heer had chance of observing various people's behaviour and their mindset. Sometimes people act very negatively towards any social change that was occurring in their kin's life. Even though their personal life was not affected directly by that change, they took that change as a challenge to their scared tradition and value system.

Heer knew she and Prem would meet many more people like Daljeet who would throw colorful comments towards them.

"Nahi aisa kutch nahi." Heer denied in a low voice.

Nevertheless, Prem could detect reluctance in her answer and understood what she was thinking. Prem put his hand on Heer's hand as a sign of his support for her and looked directly at her beautiful eyes.

"Heer ,  aap to ek lawyer hein, phir bhi aap ek basic rule nahi jante? " Prem remarked.

"Kaunsa rule?" Heer asked him.

"Jin logo ko jhut bolna ata nahi,  unogo ko jhut nahi bolmi chahiye kyunki un log jab bhi jhut bal ne ki koshish kor ti hein to wo pakri jati hein. Heer  mein samaj sakti hu ki aap ki man kya kheyal chal raha hein.

Ha hum ek aise samaj mei. rehete hein jaha Daljeet chachi jaisi bahut sare aur log honge jo rishto pe sawal uthaiyenge, hume ek naormal couple ki darja kabhi nahi denge, hamari harkat ko shaq ki nazar mein dekhenge.

Hum jante hein unlogo ka aisa bartav hamee man mein kohi na kahi dukh pawchayega. Aab hum logo ki fizul soach ko to rokh nahi sakte lekin hum un logo ki soach ko hum par bhari bhi nahi hone de sakte.

Mujhe aap pe yakeen hein, mujhe khud pe yakeen hein, mujhe hamare rishto mein yakeen jo uparwala ki marzi se hua hein. Mein aap ko yakeen dilata hu ki aap kabhi bhi khud to akele nahi payenge, jab bhi dunya aap se sawal poochenge tab aab mujhe aap ke saat khara payenge." Prem assured Heer.

Heer suddenly felt warmth in her heart after hearing assuring words of Prem. The world could become little easy for you if you had a partner like Prem.

Heer smiled and nodded at him. Soon they reached at furniture market.

They had a little chat about the style of their furniture. Both of them agreed to have simple, classical style furniture.

Prem, Heer started to observe various kinds of furniture. They were very much engaged in observing the furniture, however soon both were tensed as they heard remarks from other buyers.

"Lagta hein, ye ladki aapni devar ya chote bhai ke saat aya hein." A middle-aged woman remarked.

" Aap ko kaise pata laga, wo ladka to uss ladki ki pati bhi ho sakte hein." Another woman differed.

"Bhabiji aap bhi na, gaur se dekhiye ye ladka ka umar ladki se kam hein, aur aap to jante hein normally pati ki umar patni se zyda hoti hein." The first lady told her companion.

"Shayed aap thick keh rahi bhabi, ha aap mujhe bhi lag rahi ki ye ladka umar mein ladki se chota hein, zyda nahin shayed 1-2 saal ka chote honge. Phir bi mein aap ke saat sehmat hu koi bhi jawan ladka aapne se umar mein badi ladki se aapni marji se shadi nahi karta." Another woman remarked.

" Sahi keh rahe hein aap bhabi, meri ghar mein bhi ek ladka hein, wo 20 saal ka hein, aur mein uske liye kabhi zyda umar ki bahu ke bare mein soach nahi sakte." The woman commented.

"Ha bhabi Karan to bahut hi acche ladke hein, hum uski bare mein aisa soach nahi sakte. Jo ladke aap ne se zyda umar ki ladki saat shadi karte hein usmein jarror koi kami rahi hogi, zyda tar aisa ladka characterless hote hein, family acche nahi hote hein, pevert bhi ho sakte hein,  aur doosri taraf shayed us ladke mein bhaut badi sharirik kami rahi hoga, to ya wo ladka bahut laalchi hoga, jisko aap ne sasural se bahut sare dehaj mile honge." The woman remarked.

Heer was boiling in anger, she was feeling tempted to apply her karate skill on those women for characterizing her Prem so badly. However, she got clamed when Prem put his hand on her as sign of his support.

Heer realized that, Prem started to have an effect on her as she had already started to think Prem belonged to her. She looked at his eyes; those chocolate brown eyes of her husband were trying to say many things to her at the same time.

She could sense that he was worried that, those women could make hurtful comments towards her if she confronted them. She could see that, Prem was trying to say he was not ashamed of her. She could see he wanted to protect her from hurtful words.

However, Heer knew that, Prem did not deserve those harsh words from the bigots. She knew Prem sometimes forgot to think about himself and she promised to herself that, she would always protect his interest against the world just as if he would protect her interest against the world.

"Prem, yaha ke pass mein ek bhaut famous shiv mandir hein, kyuna hum waha se hamare married life ke liye aashirwad mangle bhagwan se." Heer told Prem. She wanted those ladies to hear her voice.

"Ha Heer hume jaroor jana chaihye." Prem smiled at her after saying that. He could understand that, what Heer was trying to do. She was trying to send a message to those bigot.

"Ek minute, kya aap dono pati patni hein?" One of the middle aged lady asked in a curious voice.

"Ha aunty! kaal hi hamari shadi hui hein." Heer told her applying a fake smile in her face.

"Kya tum dono classmate the?" Other middle aged lady asked Prem.

"Nahi Heer aur mein classmate nahi the, actually aunty mera maniye to ek couple mein sabse jaroori hota hein understanding aur soach ka similarity rehena. Agar dono mein ek dusre ko samjne khamota hein tab umar zyda kam iss baat pe farak nahi padta.

Aur ek baat aunty zamana badal raha hein, iss liye hamare soach mein badlaon lani chaiye. Generalization ek bahut hi buri baat hota hein aunty. Har ek byakti ki zindegi ki circumstance alag hota hein, har ek byakti chahat alag hota hein.

Rishta to rishta hota hein aunty, aapki aur aapki pati ka shadi ka rishta pavitra hein uski samman kar na chahiye. Lekin iss liye nahi kyunki aap ki pati aap se umar mein bada hein, mein aap ki rishto ko iss liye samman kar ta hu kyunki aap ne aap ki pati sath bhagwan ko shakshi man kar pavitra agni samne phere liye hein, ek dusre ka saat nibhana ka vachan liya hein.

Jab do insan ek dusre ko aapne zindegi se jod te hena tab wo ek durse ki astiva mein shamil hote hein jiss se ek pavitra bandhan ka janam hota hein.

Iss liye aap ko koi haq nahi hein kisi dusre ke shadi ke bandhan ke upar sawal karne ka." Prem told that middle-aged woman.

" Aare aap log bhi na behnji to bass..." A middle-aged man tried to support those middle aged ladies but Heer stopped him.

"Heer angrily retorted.

Middle aged women and other in the room became silent after that. Prem Heer left the room together while their hand was still intertwined.

It would not be last time when Prem-Heer relationship would be questioned by society, when their relationship would have to fight for earning acceptance for the society. When prejudice from people would test their commitment to each other. However, those hurdles might become stepping-stone for the development of an unbreakable bond between them.

End.

Premeer rock in replying to gossip at the shop.

It's true after marriage - each couple would feel their partner is the best unless there are problems btw themselves.
