When Deepika was asked if it is easy for outsiders to enter the Industry and make a name for themselves, she said, "No, I think we can do much better. When I came into the Industry, I was very fortunate to have been a model- a popular face. It took all of that work for Farah Khan to notice; there was something tangible for her to say, she's a girl that I want in my movie'. I don't think very many people have that opportunity. There are thousands and thousands of people who come into the city wanting to be a part of the film industry. We need to look at how we can channelize this energy in the right way to give a lot more people the opportunity.
She added, "I do feel that people who are probably in some way already related to the industry, their initial journey is slightly easier. The start is easier for them. When I see it around me today, a lot of them have become stars merely because they are somebody's son or daughter or related to somebody. That makes it easier for them, just to be recognized.
She also gave an analogy of her being Prakash Padukone's daughter and how on a badminton field she has that added pressure of people's expectations. She also said, "An Abhishek Bachchan will always feel the pressure at some level, he may not feel it but there will be expectations of whether he can match up to what his father was.
