I am am sorry for the essay ahead. But I had to get it off my chest.

I saw the movie Parched and it got me shook. I cannot put into the right words how that movie has affected me.

My life is obviously very different. I am highly educated, sheltered woman and I am not married.
I saw Parched, and it really shattered me personally. I felt so helpless as women and my ever present anger at men grew exponentially.

Its 2018 AD. Half of the world is so modern and the other half so down trodden. What is the reason behind the atrocities committed against women. Is it our physical weakness, is it because we give in , is it because men are lustful assholes, is it because men like to crush the weak, is it because it is a human tendency (men and women ) to take advantage of the weak,..

I don't know what it is. I think it is because we as Humans are inherently cruel and like to take advantage and destroy the weak , lets look at the examples..

We kill plants for food (atleast they don't have nervous system to feel pain, but they are alive and the most vulnerable in this chain). Then we mass kill animals , billions each year again because its an easy target and they cannot defend themselves and are weak..

Then lets look at human history - There were the native people who were killed for their land and wealth , then invaders invaded the weaker kingdoms , then the weaker caste was tortured , then slavery , then now its women..Actually somewhere along, women were always most harassed.

We women have always been kept down , psychologically , emotionally ,religiously by the society just because we are not that physically strong. Maybe we are strong, but our mind says no.

I don't know how true the movie Parched is , but it is true in some ways. Granted the women were shrouded in poverty and they were not educated.
But I see everyday , women who are educated , earning independent and strong, also suffering in some way or the other. Whole world is like that, not just India.

In work place , at home , on the streets I feel attacked. This fear has created lot of insecurity amongst women and that is one of the reasons (in my opinion) that women create problems for other women , in order to survive. And men are not helping this. They pit us against each other, because I feel somewhere they are scared (again my opinion). What if women realised they are not weak after all, what if women stood up for themselves.

I am not saying, it can change over night, but we have to support each other as women. We have to do it. Already we are at a long war. We do not want betrayers amongst ourselves.

I am not a man hater. There were and are so many great men in the history and today who have fought for women's rights and I 110% respect that and grateful for that, otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here expressing my opinions.

This forum is about Bollywood, and I see some people thrash an actress, her dressing style, her face , her body , her acting , her choices etc. I mean why are we doing this. Isn't this so disturbing.

IN HW too , people are mocking actresses who are now coming out now about their harassment stories. Atleast they had the guts and power to come out now. Instead of respecting that, people mock. Most disturbing is few percent of women also mock them.

We have to have to support each other in every small and big manner or else, we are up against half of the world who wants to walk all over us.

PS : If you have read till here. Thank you. Please don't bash me or you can bash me, but I have written this out of anger , frustration and disbelief at our history and present society.

I agree some people here make posts about stars just to get them bashed...

But criticizing fashion choices and even acting of any actresses itself is offensive? Not to their face, of course but not even in a forum that is meant for that?

I'll never understand that... Is this a millenial thing?

I'll like to know once and for all what the forum rules are

It's okay to say an actress is beautiful but not allowed to say I don't find her beautiful?

(If so most of us can stop coming here... Rest of them can enjoy)

Apparently it's A-OK to bash and trash a woman if she doesn't share liberal views of educated and tolerant people here and has different views on feminism

Which HW actresses is being mocked? If anything the movement has spread all over the country and now they say ANY women who accuses a man should be believed...

But agree on women's plight throughout history esp in India

But in our subcontinent up until recent times people were never treated well... Cows were treated better than "some" people...

I had somewhat of a similar reaction after watching the said movie...I agree...Its the human nature of preying on the weak that lead to centuries of atrocities against women...Worst reality is we still are the most tormented lot! :(

So you'll continue to bash actors?

And I am really curious to know if not Plants and animals what are humans supposed to eat?

And is it okay to bash women who are not actresses like producers which U did on the other thread

I haven't watched Parched, so I don't know what is it about, and I don't know where and what type of people surround you to have the kind of experiences you have, because honestly I have entirely different experiences from my surroundings, reason I never participate whenever it's about Feminism. I have seen very innocent, nice and simple boys suffer at the hands of well educated, and not so well educated women from small towns. One had an affair that she continued even after marriage with another guy through matrimony sites, traveled with husband all over the world, he being nice guy let her do whatever she wanted, salon, shopping, buying land in her name and whatever and then she ran away with lover. When he asked for divorce, she just vanished from her home and was not ready to come nor give divorce and then she put the case of dowry and what all demands that too when he didn't take a penny from her. Another case also girl had affair and then when simple husband asked divorce, she put a false dowry case and other case that's going on for more than eight years now. All around me, I see a lot of men working in office and then come home and taking care of small baby, cooking, washing and lady of the house watching TV all day and cooking a bit here and there. Many husbands cleaning bathrooms because wife won't touch it. And they aren't complaining about their wives or considering themselves being dominated or inferior in anyway doing all that.
Cities well educated girls and women, I see they are the one's who are dominating. There were men like that but today a lot lot of boys and men are non violent and really really nice to their partner even in villages. Maybe few states and some remote areas where such things are still going on, but girls in cities and towns have come a long way to the extent of dominating men and falsely charging them taking advantage of our women favorable laws.By that I don't mean all women are like that, but we can't deny the number is huge.
When members talk here about superiority of women, despite being that gender, I don't like it. I believe Feminism to a lot of women has become like male chauvinism, though it's not that. I would rather emphasize on EQUALITY and no discrimination for any gender than feminism. I have father, I have mother, I have brother. They never discriminated us.I have not seen discrimination or preferrential treatment based on gender at home or anywhere around me, not in the people who come to work in my house. I don't see people upset if they have only two daughters. We have come a far way from may be a decade ago.
As far as freedom of wearing anything, anywhere, I don't support that. There is something called appropriate. Whether in East or West, exposure is not fully supported anywhere. There are conservatives even in West. There is a reason why movies are rated. Certain things are not right for kids to be exposed to before a certain age. I don't think I would like to see my mom roam around in skimpy clothes. But if we start my life, my body and I can show whatever I want as long as i cover those tiny parts with pasties, it's ridiculous. A kid picks up the newspaper and sees boobs of actresses falling out in the newspaper from some awards night. Is that right? I don't think so. An actress who is safe, has bodyguards appears and shows off and then other girls go like that in not so safe way and place. I believe never forget where you live because until things change you are responsible for yourself, In fact, you are responsible for yourself always. After tragedy, the government came to support and didn't do victim shaming is not going to help. Is that what you all want or you don't want the thing to happen in first place. So when in Rome, do as Romans do. By that I mean India.
Rights and wrongs are different for everyone. I just said how I feel with all my honesty without caring about being looked down upon as this forum is in habit of looking upon such people as backward and what not. No, I am not behenji, I am not backward, I am well educated. I belong to this generation, but I believe what's wrong is wrong in any generation. It's not like our generation doesn't has it's own wrongs.
