Thankfully, the whole three-legged race, mirchi eating was all over at one go, so it didn't seem like a drag to me!
Neil uses Monica's impulsiveness(and despo ness!) as leverage to make sure he can get a reason to punish Avni: that can keep her from going to her cell at any cost. He comes to know from Monica (who swears on God) that she wasn't the one to hit Avni, and that the latter had herself banged her head against the wall, and hit the tap too, hurting herself deliberately.
Neil is more than sure of Avni's escape plans now. Personally, I would have loved to see a little concerned Neil here. But I won't think much about it, because right now he is thinking very one-dimensionally, wherein he is not really considering Avni's POV at all. The protective husband and officer on duty are the only roles he is pulling off at the moment, which is refraining him to sit and think, what has pushed Avni SO much that she is inflicting serious physical damage to herself.
Anyway, in the three-legged race, as we saw in OLVs, Monica falls and blames Avni. While the jailor supports Avni, Neil calls both Avni and Monica to his cabin.
Monica is cringe-cringe to my eyes as she names hers and Neil's pair as ''NeiKa'' (yuck, psycho! He's NOT yours!) and makes sheer sexual innuendos for Neil, making Avni throw the paper weight in anger at the wall of Neil's cabin.
Mind you, the damage was minor, so that makes me certain, Neil would himself aggravate that damage to make Avni stay longer in the night in his cabin.
He punishes Avni by saying, she has to work in the kitchen whole day today, not just cook food, but also serve it to people and in the night she would come to his cabin and repair the wall.
The mirchi scene takes place, wherein Tara Sitara ask Neil if he had caught many thieves in his life, to which he says, of course, but the biggest challenge he ever faced was while catching case 123!
Avni glares on!
Everyone likes Avni's food but Neil calls it ''Be-swaad'' (Tasteless), while Monica clings on (cringe, cringe!)
Avni feeds him the chillies blended gravy, and Neil is a gone case, as he gets hiccups and starts coughing.
Right then the commissioner's phone comes & he excuses himself to attend it and also rush to put some sugar to get rid of the chillies' affect. He watches Avni laughing for the first time in 6 months, as she gives a hi-5 to Ali.
He says to himself, ''To see that one smile of yours, I can eat even more chillies, anytime!''
Commissioner tells Neil to visit Vidyut, as the latter wants updates on Neo.
Neil tells Jailor to be strict with Avni and he will be back in an hour.
Vidyut's room is dark as Neil enters.
He tells Neil to switch on the light, and as we saw in the OLVs, Neil is shell-shocked to see Avni's pics and paintings everywhere.
He takes a look at that revealing painting, where not just her neckline is exposed, but also she is wearing a red, slit gown.
Neil boils further as he sees a tattoo on Vidyut's forearm, that says, ''VA'' (Vidyut-Avni).
Vidyut tells him, in these 6 months, I have preserved every single memory of Avni and I will get her by hook or crook.
Neil tells him that he is never going to let it happen!
Neil tells him, Avni is his wife, Neil Khanna's wife, and not a toy that he would hand her over to him.
Vidyut is pissed as he asks about what the hell Neil is doing with Neo's case. Neil shows him an earring and says, we got it that day at Panvel Naka, so I am guessing Neo is a woman!
Neil taunts him further before saying, Vidyut's downfall had begun from the day he had dared to propose a trading deal for Avni to Neil.
I guess the scene where Neil puts sindoor on Avni's painting with his blood will happen tomorrow.
Precap showcases a damn disappointed Avni who sees the tunnel has been closed in her cell. She curses Neil for ruining her hard work of 6 months, and a clip shows her seeing the Jail's blueprint in Neil's cabin, while they are both in there.
Over all, fast-paced episode.
I know, a lot of us are disappointed with the lack of Neil's backstory, including me. But I guess CVs have no interest in showing us that.
So I have chosen to look at it more from this angle that Neil is only a man on mission right now, and in reality too, those on such stringent missions cannot afford to look at other angles, no matter how tempting they are.
For now, we will only get glimpses of the husband in Neil as his sole aim is to keep Avni away from escaping and going after Vidyut, but I am glad that at least Avni is using all chances to taunt him for what he has done to her, and I am hopeful that when her full-fledged outburst happens, Neil would have a lot to tell too, because it is visible that he is hurting too, and he is doing everything keeping only Avni's protection in mind. Yes, he is wrong, but the guy is looking at it from a macro level. I only wish he would do something better than playing just Neo though.
Best,
Simi
