3rd December, 12:15 am
Neil couldn't sleep. All he was doing since past one hour was twisting and turning in bed. After all this, he finally admitted that he, IPS officer Neil Khanna couldn't sleep without his wife sleeping beside him. He even tried to sleep on her side of the bed, but it is as if his sleep is lost somewhere. It is as if Avni has taken his sleep along with her. But her leaving him was their plan. He knows it is very important for them to be away from each other in order to expose Juhi and Vidyut. But as important as their plan is, his sanity is of equal importance. He is starting to lose it. He hadn't met her in the last 3 days. Yes, they talk to each other on the phones provided by Sheru, as they know they are against a worthy opponent this time. They have also considered the possibility of Vidyut tapping their phone. This time there won't be any of mistakes from their end. Avni has made sure of it. He is proud of his Wifey's fast thinking and intelligence.
His eyes swept towards the clock which displayed it was fifteen minutes past midnight. Todays was 3rd December. His birthday, he realized. His first birthday after their marriage and he will spend this special day without the most special person in his life. Neil cursed his fate, Vidyut, Juhi, Guruma and all the people who were the reason why his wife wasn't with him, cuddling him and wishing him happy birthday.
His cursing fest was interrupted by a soft noise which came from the direction of the window. He was in the midst of getting up from the bed when he came to know the source of that noise. Someone was throwing rocks at his window. He went towards the window to put the fear of God in that person when he saw his wife, dressed up all black like a thief, standing below his window in midst of throw another big rock towards the window. The only problem was that this time he was standing in front of the window realized Neil. Thanks to his quick reflexes, he ducked in the nick of the time, and the stone went inside their room.
Neil was about to yell at Avni for nearly killing him when Avni wildly put her index finger to her lips, efficiently shutting him up. She removed her phone from her jeans pocket and asked Neil to get his. After waiting for what it felt like hours, Neil heard a beep.
"Neeche ajao khidki se. Ekdum chup chap". was what written in the text Avni sent him.
Neil thought his wife has gone bonkers and he told her the same via text. Avni after reading his text Avni started searching for another stone to throw at him. Avni had found a big stone to throw at him after few minutes of search and she was about to throw it towards him when she realized that he was standing few steps away from him.
Neil closed the distance between them, taking the stone from her palm and throwing it in another direction away from his wife's reach.
"Shaant hojao meri Sherni. I am here." said Neil to Avni before hugging her tight.
Finally, at peace, and forgetting what all happened just moments ago they hugged each other as if their lives depended on this very hug.
After what seemed like decades, Neil let go Avni and asked her the reason why she is here so late at night.
"Tum mere saath chalo without asking questions", replied Avni who had started walking in the direction of the gate, not explaining a thing to Neil.
Though the suspense was killing Neil, he quietly followed his wife who went out of the gate of their house. She stopped walking, turned around and asked him to wait here. Two minutes later, he saw his wife coming towards him riding a scooter. Avni stopped few centimeters away from him and asked him to sit on the scooty. First, she throws rocks at him, then makes him come out of my house like a thief, and now she is trying to kidnap him that on a scooter, his wife is a real ajooba, thought Neil while sitting on scooty poutingly as she has not included him in her plans.
"Waise Madam, ACP hu mein. I would not allow you to drive this thing without a helmet." uttered Neil authoritatively stopping her.
"Oh! ha wo bhool gayi thi mein clarified Avni while getting down. She wore a helmet and gave another one to Neil along with a black hoodie similar to hers and asked him to wear them.
"Didi Kaam hogaya. Aap abhi ja sakte ho informed Sheru suddenly coming out from hiding behind the tree.
Avni informed him that Sheru was here to delete the CCTV footage, only proof of her being here. She also informed him that Sheru also took care of Vidyut's man who was keeping an eye on their house.
Neil realized he wasn't even surprised by all his wife's planning. He clutched her waist tightly as she started the scooter and they drifted away from their home at midnight to God knows where yet Neil was content in just being with her. His worries started to disappear and his heart started to feel lighter as the distance between them and Khanna Mansion increased.
