A/N-There was originally supposed to be a continuation OS to Svetlana locking Gauri in a room but my brain kept forcing me to write this dammit! So let's just assume Omki was furious after that and very protective over Gauri
Vanvaas OS will be in two parts-this and another one which is basically a phone convo and a song sequence of their separation.Yeah you will understand when you read it. Hopefully😳

The lines Gauri says at the end of this OS( the ones in bold) - is a quote by Jalaluddin Rumi-an AWESOME 13th century poet.

Thank you all for your likes and comments😃

VANVAAS-THE BEGINNING

Omkara moved unseeingly through the corridor. Every step he took dragged him down while the roaring in his ears was now resembling the crescendo of the tandava. It was over. Everything was over. Everything he had once loved, cherished, worshipped- they were all gone, torn down by the very people he had put up on a pedestal. 'And thus falls Rome', he thought with a bitter smile.

He was nearing his destination now. Two hours ago he had yearned to be there. He had dreamed of walking in and finally setting his eyes on the one being that had haunted his mind and heart the last two weeks, who had both disturbed and enlivened his dreams and the memory of whose face he had carried close to his heart like a talisman.

The thought of seeing it now drained the little strength he possessed.

"Mom. Tell me this isn't true. Tell me you didn't do this. Tell me you didn't fall for Mr Oberoi's deception and send Shivaay, our Shivaay away from us".

Jhanvi stared at her son's face, the pleading note in his voice and the horrified, furious expression giving further fuel to the doubts she had tamped down. From the corner of her eye she could see Tej giving her a reassuring smile which calmed her down a little. Once she had explained everything, her son would understand.

"Om beta, I understand you are upset but I promise you that I am not the one who betrayed the family. Shivaay was the one who transferred your and Rudy's shares to Svetlana. He was the one who insisted on Svetlana staying here despite all of her attempts to attack and hurt Gauri. He was the one who was conspiring with Svetlana to destroy our fam-"

"DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT STATEMENT MRS TEJ SINGH OBEROI!"

Jhanvi stumbled back at the roar, her hands coming up to clutch empty air for support. Om, her Om had just raised his voice at her? Om? Frantically she looked around the room in hope of somehow understanding this world that had turned upside down in the last few days. She didn't find it. While Tej looked furious, it was the expression on her mother-in-law's and her Rudy's face that shook her. It wasn't hate, it wasn't anger, it was a steely eyed contempt that rocked her off her feet. Her Rudy had never looked at her like that. Terrified, she turned to her boy who had always championed her cause and whose love for her had never failed to make her feel blessed.

His face was a mask of hatred.

"Om, she begged, the tears threatening to choke the words. Terror was engulfing her now. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. She had done all this for him, for Rudy, for her darling boys. She had only done what any mother would do-protect her children at any cost.

"Om", she tried again, her voice trembling with fear and grief. "Om, please try and understand. I did this for you and Rudy. For you and Gauri. I was willing to support Shivaay even after he transferred your and Rudy's shares to Svetlana. But the attacks on Gauri? Svetlana was trying everything in her power to hurt and humiliate Gauri but Shivaay wouldn't even listen to me even when I begged him to throw Svetlana out. How could I stand by silently when someone was trying to attack my bahu?"

He would understand. She knew he loved Gauri, obviously he would understand.

"If Shivaay wanted to keep Svetlana in the house even after she tried to hurt Chulbul Bhabhi then you better believe that he had a damn good reason Mom."

She turned to her youngest in disbelief, her baby, the pit in her stomach widening at the tone in which he spoke. It was hard, venomous and cold and nothing like her child's usual playful accents.

"Rudy, you saw what Svetlana was doing to this family, she stuttered. "And Shivaay was lending her his support at every step. You might not care about your brother and bhabhi's life, but I care about my son and his wife", she finished, anger now giving strength to her words. How could they not see that she had done all this for them?

"His brother and bhabhi now no longer live in this house because of you Mrs Oberoi."

There it was again. The cold, emotionless statement from her eldest nearly broke her heart. Om had always worshipped her. No matter, he would understand. She just had to make him understand.

"Shivaay is not his only brother,Om". She continued, drawing on all her inner reserves of strength. "You are also his brother and now the heir to the Oberoi empire. You-"

"The heir to the Oberoi empire is, was and will always be Shivaay Singh Oberoi."

Jhanvi stilled. The rage and horror had disappeared from Om's face and had been replaced by...nothing. She shuddered as her eyes roamed over her child's features. The expression in his eyes...she couldn't understand it but there was something terrible and frightening about her son's set face. A dim part of her noted that it wasn't just her. Tej looked wary, Rudy looked terrified while her mother-in-law appeared to be praying.

Om lifted his head to look her directly in the eyes. There was a cold fire in them that stoked the fear in her.

"And until Shivaay Singh Oberoi returns home with his wife and the bade bahu of this house, Omkara Singh Oberoi will not set foot in any piece of land which carries the Oberoi name, will not touch a single rupee which is part of the Oberoi fortune and will not lay a finger on anything that is part of the Oberoi empire which belongs to my brother."

"Om!"

"I am no longer your son Mrs Tej Singh Oberoi."

Jhanvi stared at him in horror, the paralysing fear threatening to consume her. The words had been said quietly but there was a finality to them that shook the ground she was standing on.

A bitter smile curved his lips. "You did this for me and Gauri right? Then listen to me, Mrs Tej Singh Oberoi. Until my brother returns to his house with my bhabhi, Omkara Singh Oberoi will not have a life together with his wife. You can continue to look after your bahu but Omkara does not have a wife until Shivaay and Anika Singh Oberoi return to their rightful home".

She stood with her arms wrapped around herself, staring at the scarlet-gold of the setting sun. Om entered the room silently, the sight of her breaking his heart. He thanked an unknown God that her face was turned away from him. He needed to find the courage to look into her eyes.

He must have made a sound for she turned at last, filling his heart with dread. He dropped his eyes, unable to look at her, unable to see what he had done to her. Her rage he could take, her tears defeated him like nothing else.

"Aap aa gaye?"

He lifted his face slowly. The tears that had left him when he had broken all ties to this house and its inmates were now coming back with a vengeance. He opened his mouth only to find that speech had deserted him.

She was now next to him, her sweet fingers were wiping away his tears and he was suddenly crushing her against him, unable to look down but needing to have her close to him. A need so visceral that it almost frightened him.

"Mat royiye". The break in her voice only hurt him further. Giving in to the need to breathe her in, he buried his face in her neck.

She hesitated but her hands went automatically to his head, carding through his hair in a manner that both hurt and soothed him.

"Gauri", he breathed.

"Hum jaante hain."

He lifted his head to look at her for the first time since he had entered the room.

She was smiling, a brave wan little smile but the tear tracks on her cheeks and the suspiciously red eyes confirmed what she had already told him. She knew.

For a moment they stood like that- with their arms around each other in perfect silence. The wind seemed to be annoyed at the silence for it whistled a little harder as if encouraging them to break the quiet. The sun however knew better for its setting rays merely glanced sympathetically at the pair before giving way to darkness with a heavy heart.

"Grief."

Gauri lifted her head to look at her husband. The tears had gone but the desolate look had remained behind.

"Grief. Pain. Suffering. It's all I have ever given you", he whispered as his hands came up to cradle her face. "It's all you have ever had from the moment you met me".

A thousand needles were spearing her eyes but Gauri kept the tears firmly at bay. Her husband would walk out of this house with the image of a resilient, strong woman to give him solace. She would give him strength, not weaken him further.

"If your love has given me grief then it has also given me happiness, the likes of which I have never felt before you. If your love has given me pain then it's the pain that comes with deep bliss. And if this is suffering then it is the suffering that a person gladly endures because paradise is in sight. You were given to me by the gods and no grief, no suffering and no pain can compare to the joy your love has given me and continues to give me Omkaraji, nothing."

He was silent but the hands which caressed her cheeks were trembling. His eyes might appear dead but she knew, she knew what lay behind it and while his pain shattered her heart, she couldn't let him see it.

"I have to leave", he said finally, the hold on her face tightening for a second.

In response she gently freed herself and went to a corner of the room to bring back a packed case. His breath caught at the sight. How long had she been waiting for the blow to fall, how many tears had flowed when she had packed this time?

"Don't", she said softly. He stared at her mutely, too tired and beaten to understand anything. She smiled in response, a small, reassuring smile that gave him hope like nothing else had.

"Don't worry about me or Rudy bhaiyya or anyone else. We will be fine. Dabangg Gauri will make sure of it".

That dragged a smile out of him. She was right. Dabangg Gauri was equal to anything.

"I don't want to say goodbye", he confessed, his voice breaking at the word. They had just found each other and to be forced apart so soon...

She came closer at that and a hand was lifted to smooth the hair away from his brow.

"Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation".

For a moment he stared at her, drinking her in like a dying man permitted a last glimpse at everything he had loved. Then with one swift turn, he was walking out of the room and their life and into the self-imposed hell that fate had thrown him into.

Gauri waited until she heard the main door shut before collapsing to the ground in silent tears.

This is completely heartbreaking😭.
First I'll give you an un-biased opinion, then you can have my biased RiKarian opinion if you want it.😉

Omkara acting this way would bring in the kind of angst that TRP viewers thrive on, so you basically wrote a cure to the ailment the CVs have of not knowing where to take a track. Well done👏.

Also this fits in with the extent of the kind of role CVs would allow for RiKara to have in the vanvaas track - collateral damage. Shrenu and Kunal are AMAZING at angst so I think they would do this OS real justice onscreen. With how little RiKara we get onscreen, a separation would be best as at least it would give a reason to the lack of RiKara scenes, instead of them living like strangers in the same house and room.

Thanks for this great piece of writing.😊 Let me know if you want to hear what my bleeding RiKara heart felt about it...

Enjoyed reading all 3 parts. You have tapped into the steel spine and strength of Gauri and Om's naughty streak (as I mentioned earlier). Waiting eagerly for the next one.

In an episode in DBO, Swet comes to Om's room and tries to flirt with him in Chulbul's presence, and Gauri recites a couple of lines of a poem about a snake and a chandan tree. She has a taste for poetry, which I hope the CVs haven't forgotten. It would be lovely if they incorporate this into future episodes, but I am not holding my breath cos I don't want to die!

About Ishana in the serial, she almost twisted herself into impossible shapes trying to interest Om, but he didn't fall for it. He was blind to her except as a charity case. Her Mala-Bela game was juvenile to say the least.

Waiting to see Gouri rocking the club and Om feeling the heat. And glad you wrote on that kitchen scene. The past shapes our present and you can't really understand today's Om without knowing about his drug addiction, suicide attempts and Riddhima.

The Piya dance. He Bhagwan! It took a lot to see it on screen. Now time for Om to see Gauri being carried by three men! (No, no, not giving hints.)

A lovely read. Thanks.

Thank you!😊
Yes Gauri's taste for poetry is something I really wanted the CVs to explore because for me their relationship is defined by a depth that can only expressed through art. It is not a nok-jhok, regular relationship- there is an element of devotion and reverence and a certain sense of quiet intensity. That's what caught my attention about this couple in the first place.

Thank you so much for the clarification about Ishana-all I could get was a google image and a transcript of a Gul khan interview where she mentioned the character, so I just kind of made up stuff about her😳

As for Piya...CVs!😡

Hints 'not given' are currently blossoming into ideas😆

If Om returns from Germany to the news of his bro's vanvas, he is going to freak out just as he did in your story. Awesome!
