This is a long post. Thanks in advance for your patience. Do share your views, please.
The only Indian serial I ever watched continuously was Na Aana Iss des laado. Because there has not been a single Indian Drama that reached up to that level of quality and standard. Even though Balika Vadhu too was based on a social issue but it was slow and had some similar features to those of saas-bahu and kitchen politics Dramas. NAIDL had pace and action. Everyone loved the villain Ammaji. Even at last (Late night) slot of 10:30 PM, it used to be at the top of TRP chart. After it ended, Colors might have realized its value and craze and brought it back as Laado - Veerpur ki Mardani. Everyone who had seen NAIDL got excited to see the same action and Ammaji. I was one of them but till now I have been disappointed by Laado2. From last one month, they are just teasing for things to happen in future but nothing substantial has happened (apart from Jhanvi's death). Channel/Production want to recreate the magic of NAIDL but they are failing on so many levels to understand what actually was Na Aana Iss Des Laado and how it was presented. I have compared both these seasons (Though I don't consider them as seasons) on the basis of some factors :
Ammaji: The most beautifully written powerful character on Indian television is without any doubt that of Ammaji. Meghna Malik played this character with shear brilliance. Surely most TV actors/actresses must have been ashamed of their work after seeing Meghna Malik playing Ammaji. She set an example. She was the reason people watched NAIDL. That's why when Laado 2 came, everyone got excited because of Ammaji in it. But creative team has not done justice with this character this time. They have made the character weak and are not showing any actual action by this character even after so many days. But still due to Meghna Malik's brilliant acting skills, only thing shining in Laado2 till date is Ammaji.I hope in future, creatives and writers use the power of this character properly. In short I want my old Ammaji back.
Pace: Things happened at lightening speed in NAIDL. They did not show that it would happen this week and that week. They used to show the unexpected with such a fast pace that you did not get bored. But in Laado2 they are just teasing that something will happen this week that other will happen that week. But in the end, they are showing nothing. Though it's pace is faster than other serials but not as great as that of NAIDL. Also, I don't understand why Colors spoil the whole episode before starting the episode by telling what is going to happen in it.
Music: Background music was the beauty of NAIDL. From the title song to Ammaji's background music, everything was epic. In Laado2, producers/creatives have ruined this beauty. Ammaji's BG music is good but not that much epic like that in NAIDL.
Cast: I never saw such a great cast in any other serial as that in NAIDL. There were so many top-notch actors like Meghna Malik (Ammaji), Sonal Jha (Sheela Chachi), Anand Goradia (Gajendra), Tarun Anand (Joginder),Madhurjit Sarghi (Santosh), Harish Verma (Avtar), Aman Verma (Bhanu Pratap), Sheeba Chadha (Bajri), Kannan Arunachalam (Dharmveer Chacha ). Though Meghna malik shined most with brilliant acting skills and brilliantly written character. Every character had importance and was given proper screentime. That also created the craze for watching Ammaji because she was not shown frequently. But in Laado2 apart from Meghna Malik, Dakssh Ajit Singh, Gulfam Khan and Shaleen Malhotra (to some extent), I don't see any good actor being brought in. Every other actor looks so B-grade. Rituraj's acting as Balwant looks so forced and character description does not fit his physical appearance. Avika does not seem to have learned much from her experience but she is still young and has a long way to go. So overall Laado2 disappointed us with the casting. Keeping more characters/Actors from NAIDL may have helped to increase the interest.
Storyline: In NAIDL they had already shown Ammaji turning into a positive person. Also, Ammaji had granddaughters (more than 20 years old.One of them died). She had other family members too.But in Laado 2 they have just assumed that portion of her life when she was negative and ignored that fact that she already had a family. No other family member is shown. This looks weird. But as Ammaji's fans, we are fine with that as long as they entertain us with Ammaji's action.
Costumes: See the episodes of NAIDL and you can clearly see the Haryanvi attire of all the characters perfectly fits the setup. But it looks weird in Laado2. Their choice of colorful clothes (at least the dupatta) for Ammaji does not look as classic as that in NAIDL.
Camera Visuals: In NAIDL it was a delight to see any dramatic scene with such nice camera angles and directions. Visuals used to be so much poetic. That made NAIDL stand out of the crowd.
