to learn the Gujarati language for his next
film Baazaar. In the movie, Khan plays the
role of a business and the film based on the
stock trading market in Mumbai.
As Saif plays the role of a Gujarati business,
the actor said that he wanted to perfect his
accent in the language. Talking to a daily, the
Nawab said, "I had a few dialogues in
Gujarati in Sajid Khan's Humshakals, which
came in handy while preparing for this film.
I have tried to do justice to the scenes by
adding Gujaratiness to them. It was
challenging because I had to learn long
lines, but I enjoyed that."
The Chef actor further added, "My character
in this movie (Baazaar) is dark, strong, and
mean. So getting the nuances right was
tough."
Baazaar's first poster was out some time
back. The Omkara actor also spoke about his
role. Saif stated, "I am essaying a grey
character after a long time. He is a ruthless
businessman, who does some distasteful
things. It got me worried when I read the
script, but I realised that is the beauty of the
role."
Khan also said that he likes this kind of
cinema where the character played by an
actor is hated by the audience. He said that
he expects the audience to react in the same
way to his role in Baazaar.
Taking about the different genre of films he
is doing now, the Dil Chahta Hai actor said, "I
don't think I could have done films
like Baazaar and Chef 10 years ago. Whether
a film works or not is not in my hands, but I
think it is the duty of an actor to do
something entertaining, yet different, for the
audience."
Baazaar is directed by Gauravv K. Chawla and
also stars Radhika Apte.
