Veteran Actress Sandhya Shantaram Passes Away
What a joke this is!
Being a south Indian and a devotee of Lord murugan and have always worshipped as dandapani and he stands firmly in pazyani holding a staff.
Ganesha is never addressed as Dandapani in any Temple. So it does not matter. For me it is still a faux pas.

The above extract shows Dandapani as the caretaker of Varanasi . Mostly he must have been functioning under Kalabhairava...
He may have power over some ganas alotted to him by Siva so he may be called ruler of ganas. That doesn't mean he is Ganesh, the son of Siva himself. As far as I know Kartikeya is Dandapani..who holds the staff.Like Minakshi said Yama also is Danda Pani but his Danda is Yama danda.I disagree with Vinayak being given that title as shown in the show.To me Kartikeya is Dandapani.Lakshmi

Hi lakshmi di... Actually in some upnishad he was refered as yaksha who was shiva devotee and some consider him as bhairav and some consider him as lord ganesha... nd there are several other temples in north which refers different lord as lord danpani and I never want to change anyone's beliefs cause I know beliefs, faith and devotion is came from inside heart and soul and no one can effect that right or wrong... u said kartikeya is dandpani cause he holds the staff and smiliraly my grandmother told me that parvati gave lord murugan the dand of her powers to defeat tadkasura and lord murugan always used the dand only as weapon most of the time and hodls the dand everytime like lord shiva his trishula and lord vishnu his chakra that's why he called as dandpani... and similarly different people has their own beliefs nothing else I was intended in my post :)
