Katrina Kaif to star opposite Salman Khan in Bharat

Salman Khan is all set to star in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri's next production titled Bharat. The film that will be helmed by Tiger Zinda Hai director Ali Abbas Zafar has already got itself blocked at the theatres for Eid 2019. The film is an official adaptation of a South Korean film titled An Ode To My Father and is expected to go on floors from April 2018 onwards. It's after a long gap of 6 years that Salman and Agnihotri will come together for a film.

Though even with no official announcements, rumours were rife about Katrina Kaif being finalised for the female lead in the film. But now we tell you its all true and Miss Kaif has been confirmed to play the leading lady opposite Salman Khan in the film. A source close to the makers of the film informed Filmfare and confirmed the news of Katrina being a part of the film.

Katrina and Salman have done many films together. They have starred together in Partner, Maine Pryaar Kyun Kiya, Yuvraaj, Tiger Zinda Hai and the upcoming Tiger Zinda Hai. Katrina is definitely on a career high with the biggest films in her kitty.

Speaking about his project, Atul told Mumbai Mirror, "That film is just the starting point for ours but since it was an inspiration, we wanted in all fairness to officially own it and acquired the remake rights before going ahead with Bharat. It starts in 1947 and ends in 2000 and is the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the name of Bharat.

On being asked what made him produce the film this time around and not direct, Agnihotri had a rather interesting take. He told Mirror, "I feel I contribute better as a producer. Ali is a friend, I love his work and eventually it's all about connecting with the source. If you speak to him, you will realise that Ali is far more passionate about the material. We will be shooting in Abu Dhabi and Spain, besides Punjab and Delhi. Prep in every department will be elaborate and is happening even as we speak. Casting will be our main agenda over the next three months and since it's a character-driven story, we will take actors who fit the parts. It won't be about getting names together but will be honest in its depiction.
