"Yeh aapne kya kiya bhai-sa? (What have you done bhai-sa?) Rajkumari Rukmini exclaimed horrified.

"Deeghr ayu bhav! (Have a long life!) Rajpurohit blessed. "Aap sab ko smaran nahi hai kya ki Kunwar Vikrant ki maa swayam ek icchadhari naagin' hain? Iss liye yadhpi Kunwar Vikrant ek naag roop lena chahen toh woh le sakte hain."(Have you all forgotten that Kunwar Vikrant's mother is also a 'self transforming snake'? Hence, if Kunwar Vikrant wants to change into snake form he can.)
"Parantu Rajpurohitji, humare putr ne kabhi bhi naag' roop nahi liya hai? (But Rajpurohit, my son has never ever transformed into snake form before.) Rajkumari Kumudini said in confused voice.
"Woh iss liye Rajkumariji kyunki Kunwar Vikrant ko apni aantarik shaktiyon (internal power) ka gyaat nahi. (That is because he has no knowledge of his internal power.) Seeing whole royal family still perturbed and confused. Rajpurohit Ram Prasad Mishra said with confidence, "Aap sabko pramaan chahiye toh yeh lijiye. (You all need a proof so be it!) Rajpurohit put his hand on Vicky's head and soon Vicky changed into a brown python with yellow eyes
for 2minutes and then transformed back into human form. Vicky looked extremely shaken and looked at Rajkumari Kumudini and Yuvraj Bhujang. "Maa aur bhai, mujhe yeh kya ho raha hai? Sab kuch itna ajeeb hai! (Maa and Bhai, what is happening? I'm feeling so strange!)
"Kuch nahi beta. Tumhare andar jo "naag shaktiyaan" hain woh prajwalit (gained energy) ho rahi hain. (Nothing to worry son! Your internal snake power is getting energised) Rajkumari Kumudini tried to explain.
"But I don't want to be a snake. Vicky said totally dazed and horrified.
"Humari shaktiyon ke kaaran yeh kewal do minute ke liye hi naag yoni' mein reh sake. Parantu yadi Kunwar Vikrant saadhna karenge toh veh adhik samay tak naag yoni' mein reh sakenge. Kunwar Vikrant ko naag banne mein baadha iss kaaran hai kyunki inke pitah manushiye yoni' ke the. Kyunki Kunwar Vikrant ke andar "naag shaktiyaantoh hain kintu prajwalit nahin, iss kaaran yeh saralta se naag roop toh nahi le sakte jaise hum sab le sakte hain, parantu inn naag shaktiyon ke kaaran unn par Rajkumari Durga ke vish ka koi bhi bura prabhaav nahi hoga. Rajkumariji, yadi Kunwar Vikrant manushiye yoni' mein hi apna poorn jeevan vytith karna chahte hain toh unhein wohi karne dijiye. (Due to my yogic powers I could only transform Kunwar Vikrant into snake for 2 minutes but if he does yogic practices and if he wishes, he can take snake form for longer duration. The obstacle for Kunwar Vikrant to readily convert into snake form is that as his father was human, he can only transform into his snake form if he does yogic practices and if he desires it.. As his snake powers have not been energised he cannot easily transform into a snake form like all of us but due to these latent snake powers, Princess Durgeshwari's poison will not harm him. Princess Kumudini, however, if Kunwar Vikrant is comfortable in his human form then let it him be. ) Rajpurohit explained.
"Rajpurohitji aur Bhai-sa aap yahaan kaise? (How come Rajpurohitji and Bhai-sa you are here?) Rajkumari Kumudini said trying to change the topic and calm Vicky.
"Hum Rajkumari Rukmini se milne aksar iss mandir mein aatte hain. (I often come to this temple to meet Princess Rukmini.) Maharaj Nagendra said.
"Hummei Rajkumari Durga se vivaah ke poorv ek havan karana hai. (I have to get a havan (prayer ceremony) done by Princess Durga before her marriage.) Rajpurohit Ram Prasad Mishra explained.
"Kaisa havan? (What kind of havan?) Yuvraj Bhujang enquired.
"Kshama kijiye Yuvraj iss shann hum aapko kuch batta nahi sakte. Aapke vivaah pashchaat battayenge. (Please forgive me I can't reveal now. Only after your marriage!)
"Guruji, hum Durga ke bina wapis Vishgarh ke rajmahal nahi jaa sakte hain. Iss liye hum bhi aapke saath chalenge. (Guruji, I can't go back to the Royal Palace of Vishgarh without taking Durga with me hence, I'll accompany you.)
"Theek hai Rajkumari Rukmini. (Very well Princess Rukmini.)
"Hum bhi Rajkumari Rukmini aur Rajkumari Durgeshwari ke saath Vishgarh jaana chahte hain. (Even I want to go with Princess Rukmini and Princess Durgeshwari to Vishgarh Palace.)
"Pitahji hum bhi... (Father, even we...)
"Yuvraj, aap apni bua-sa aur Kunwar Vikrant ko le kar Ajgarh chaliye isse pehle ki Maa-sa ko gyaat ho ki poora rajparivaar rajmahal mein nahi hai. Yadi unhein patta chala ki aap Rajkumari Durgeshwari se mile hain toh bahut badi samasya ho jaayegi. (Crown Prince, you go with your Aunt and Vikrant (Vicky) back to Ajgarh before Queen Mother is aware that no one from the Royal family is in the Palace of Ajgarh. And if she comes to know that you came to meet Princess Durgeshwari then hell will break loose!) Disappointed and frustrated Yuvraj Bhujang along with Rajkumari Kumudini and extremely scared Vicky left for Palace of Ajgarh.
Once Yuvraj Bhujang, Rajkumari Kumudini and Vicky had left, Rajpurohit Ram Prasad Mishra took Rajkumari Durgeshwari in the inner sanctum of the temple near the idol of Lord Shiva.
Maharaj Nagendra and Rajkumari Rukmini were sitting outside.
"Rajkumari Durgeshwari, kya aap ko gyaat hai ki Kunwar Vikrant par jiss ajgar ne hamla kiya thaa woh Maharaj Brijendra ka guptchar (spy) thaa? (Princess Durgeshwari do you recall that Kunwar Vikrant was attacked by Maharaj Brijendra's spy?)
"Ji Gurudev! (Yes Gurudev!)
"Kintu aapko yeh gyaat nahi ki woh hamla Kunwar Vikrant ke liye nahi thaa. Woh hamla Yuvraj Bhujang ko ghayal athva... (But you are not aware that the attack was not meant for Vikrant. The attack was actually meant for making Crown Prince Bhujang to seriously hurt or...)
"NAHI! YEH NAHI HO SAKTA! HUMARE JEETE JI HUMARE SUHAAG (YUVRAJ BHUJANG) KA KOI KUCH NAHI BIGAAD SAKTA! (NO! I WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN! AS LONG AS I'M ALIVE NO ONE CAN HARM MY HUSBAND, YUVRAJ BHUJANG!)
"Iss liye Durga abb aap apni shaktiyaan kendrith kariye aur Yuvraj Bhujang ko "suraksha kavach (protection armour) pehnaiye. (Therefore, Durga gather all your powers and concenterate and put a protection armour on Yuvraj Bhujang!)
Two hours later Maharaj Nagendra along with Rajkumari Rukmini and Rajkumari Durgeshwari left for Vishgarh. Whereas Rajpurohit Ram Prasad Mishra left for Ajgarh.
Rajkumari Rukmini had in past few weeks i.e. before Rajkumari Durga's marriage explained to Durga the do's and don'ts in Palace of Ajgarh. She also explained the reason for Rajmata Savitri Devi's tradirional, orthodox, conservative and harsh behaviour. Rajmata Savitri Devi was only 26yrs old when she became a widow. Maharaj Nagendra was at that time 6yrs old and Rajkumari Kumudini 4yrs old. To save the Kingdom of Ajgarh from their scheming and manipulative Royal male relatives she had to become cold and harsh. Slowly that became her behaviour as she felt she only got respect because she was Maharani of Ajgarh. Due to her Royal duties, Maharaj Nagendra and Rajkumari Kumudini were brought up with Daimaa' (Nanny/foster mother) and maids.
"Aaj hum ek bhaavi Maharani, ek patni, ek bahu aur ek stree ke roop mein unki pareshani samajh sakte hain. Kintu hum unhei apni "bali jo ek zabardasti ke vivaah ke roop mein huyi thee, kyunki woh siyasthi rajneeti ke liye avashiyak thaa. Uske liye Rajmaat ko kabhi bhi maaf nahi kar paayenge! (Today I'm looking at Queen Mother's act as a future queen, a wife, a daughter-in-law and a women and I can understand her problems. But I'm unable to forgive her for sacrificing my wishes and happiness by forcefully marrying me for her royal politics.)
"Bhabhi-sa, hummei koi adhikaar toh nahi kintu hum yeh avashiye kehenge ki jeevan ka koi bharosa nahi. Abb aap apne vivaah mein khush hain toh punar vichaar kar ke dekhiye. (Bhabhi-sa, I have no right to say this there is gaurantee of nothing in life. But as you are happily married now, why don't you reconsider your decision?)
Just then a maid came to call Rajkumari Rukmini saying that Yuvraj Krishan Pratap is calling her leaving conversation mid way.
A WEEK LATER
Tuesday morning it was a ceremony called "Palla dastoor (The boy's family visits the bride's house with the trousseau like clothes and jewellery a day or two before the marriage. ) (Source: Google). As its a primarily a ladies function, Rajmata and Rajkumari Kumudini came with few ladies from Ajgarh royalty. Rajkumari Rukmini was there anyway to do all the ceremonies involving bridegroom's sister. Durga was dressed by Rajkumari Kumudini and Rajkumari Rukmini along with other female relatives in saree and jewellery got by Yuvraj Bhujang's family.
In Wednesday mid morning there was ceremony called "Mahira Dastoor or as is said in state of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.)"Bhaath at Vishgarh . (This ritual which takes place in both the boy's and girl's houses involves the maternal uncles of the families. The uncles bring clothes, jewellery and sweet delicacies to the entire family. It is a symbolic gesture emphasising the fact that the maternal uncle has to lend a hand of help for the expenditure of his sister's family.) (Source: Google)
In state of U.P., the clothes and jewellery of the bride including glass bangles, payals (anklets) and bichwas (toe-rings) are given by maternal uncle which the bride wears at the actual time of pheras (going around the fire 7 times!).
Maternal uncle not only brings payals (anklets) and bichwas (toe-rings) but also both maternal uncle (mama) and his wife (mami) makes the bride wear payals (anklets) and bichwas (toe-rings).
Maharani Pallavi's brother Maharaj Vishwajeet Singh came along with his wife Maharani Subhadra came for "bhaath to Vishgarh . After Bhaath' everyone had lunch and left for their respective homes.
On Wednesday evening "Mahira Dastoor was at Ajgarh so that Rajkumari Rukmini could also attend. Maharaj Nagendra and Yuvraj Bhujang came to take her to Palace of Ajgarh but Rajkumari Rukmini refused to enter her maika' due to her anger on Rajmata Savitri Devi. Unhappy and disappointed Maharaj Nagendra and Yuvraj Bhujang left for Palace of Ajgarh. At the time of "Mahira Dastoor, Maharani Vidyavathi's (Yuvraj Bhujang and Rajkumari Rukmini's mother) brother had passed away few years back hence his son i.e. Maharani Vidyavathi's nephew Maharaj Samaan came for the "bhaath ceremony.
On thursday evening in Ajgarh Palace there was "Janev (Upnayan) ceremony of Yuvraj Bhujang (The groom is made to wear a saffron robe and perform a yagna with the priest on the eve of him taking over the duties of a householder. At the end of the yagna, the groom has to act as if he wants to become an ascetic and run away but is stopped by his maternal uncle, who convinces him to get married.)
On Friday morning i.e. day of Yuvraj Bhujang & Rajkumari Durgeshwar marriage "Pithi Dastoor commonly called "Haldi was performed.
(This ceremony which involves application of turmeric and sandalwood paste on the bride and groom is held with much fanfare in both wedding houses. This function is held in a big way in the bride's house especially and features women singers with dholak as well. They sing wedding songs along with shehnai and nagara players.) (Google)
First Yuvraj Bhujang's Haldi was performed and
sometime later some of Yuvraj Bhujang's used Haldi was applied to Rajkumari Durgeshwari.
