Neela is one of the most beautifully written characters of Naamkarann. I wonder what would have happened with Avni had she not been there as her friend, philosopher and guide.
She is a unique mother. It is a general norm in our society that if you are mother of a girl, you are supposed to keep your eyes low especially in front of her in-laws.
But Neela is a mom who ensures that her daughter gets full rights and justice at her in-laws house. She has the guts to give it back to her daughter's MIL, if she thinks the MIL is trying to ruin her daughter's happiness.
She is not like those typical mothers who say "main apne beti ke sasural kaa paani tak nahin pi sakti" . For her beti is not parayi amanat after marriage. Whether planning daughter's honeymoon or planning daughter's remarriage, as per recent olvs, she believes in equal participation and won't leave it entirely on the in-laws staing "jaisa aaplog theek samjhe".
Her determination to protect her daughter's relationship and encouraging her daughter not to give up her place is worth applauding.
She is not only a good mother but a good mother-in-law also. When her son-in-law is not sure how to deal with his tubelight wife, she gives him valuable suggestions.
Other MILs will be embarrassed to discuss such topics with SILđ.
She can be a friend as well as the much needed support for Neil when Neil's own mother fail to understand him.
Yesterday Neela could have easily blamed Neil for not being successful in rescuing Avni. But she was the first person who consoled Neil that it was not his fault, the words Neil needed to hear at that time to regain his fighting spirit.
Instead of crying and cribbing Neela preferred to help Neil with his plan and showed confidence in him that he will be able to save her daughter. In today's episode we can see how much worried Neela was about Avni's well being in RM, but she didn't show it up in front of Neil yesterday because that will only add up to his woes.
Undoubtedly Neela is the mother that every girl wants and the mother-in-law every son-in-law deserves.
